Today, at the D23 Expo, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed that they will create Star Wars-themed lands for Disneylands in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. If you ever wanted to enter the world of Star Wars, you'll actually have the chance to now!

Bob Iger shared his excitement about the announcement to over 7,500 fans. "I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars. Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible." He then continued, "And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore.”

As you can see from the concept art, you'll have the chance to climb aboard the Millennium Falcon and go on a "secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle." Exciting, right? Along with this you'll also be able to go to a never-befor-seen planet, and do much, much, more! Check out the concept art below, and stay tuned to CBM for any updates!

You've got to consider how long it'll take the street actors to prepare all of the makeup.

I was taling to somebody that works at Disneyland and she was saying they're probably taking out ToonTown for this. Yeah, no big loss. Just wish it was based off a planet we recoognize, but we'll probably see this one in a movie soon.

@HurricanXavier, ok thats cool. But to be fair if they would have to make room for Star Wars land they'd probably remove ToonTown

I doubt it'll be as impressive as the concept art, but they still could make something very cool. The Star Wars version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, perhaps?

I live in Florida. I'm actually right around the corner from Disney and news of a Star Wars land has been going around the parks for YEARS now. I believe they've also been clearing room over at MGM Studios for a while now. Hopefully for this!

This is an expansion Disneyland just bought out a couple of land plots right next to the park over 14.7 acres of land. What is going to happen is they will build a Star Wars land and possibly sometime in the future a Marvel land. No idea about Disney World I live in California.

I am going to regret doing this ...but if you are going to be, for a lack of a harsher word, ignorant, I am going to make you debate your POV. Make a point. Take this beyond a troll post and turn what seems to be hate for the sake hate into an educated argument pro your side.

My point of view on why I think diversity in Star Wars AND movies in general is a healthy thing for cinema: You can only tell the same story with the same type of protagonist so many times. We have had CENTURIES of white male leads in literature, cinema, television, video games and comics. How many times can you tell a story about one race or gender of people who have different experiences without telling the same story with the same character over and over again? We have only scratched the surface on what we can do with female characters because only over the last few decades have they been allowed to be more than objects of affection. Therefore, we can tell new and different stories because they are a different P.O.V from the typical white male we have seen forever.

Ignoring that you used horrible stereotypes, you actually semi add to argument here. Different genders, races, and sexual orientations have different interest, dialects, and culture. When not exploited as stereotypes, it is that different culture that can give us a new spin on things. See maybe something that has been done before through new eyes. I think Furiosa is wonderful example of this. While stories will get re-hashed and re-told, having diversity will make those stories somewhat fresh as, again, we have seen the white male protagonist done in several different ways to point where it is going to be tough telling new stories with them. That problem does not exist with other races and genders.

The ball is in your court for a counter-argument.
