Less than three weeks away from the release of the latest entry in the
Star Wars saga, the writer-director of
The Last Jedi answered some fan questions on Twitter Live.
If you missed the live stream, here is a recap of Johnson's best answers.
"'The Last Jedi' in three words? Intense, fun, Star Warsian-ish."
"So there are seatbelts on the Millennium Falcon, and actually it's interesting, the bench that goes around the hologram table, there's seatbelts on that and if you look, they're covered in bubble wrap for some reason, but they've been that way since 'A New Hope,' so we left them that way."
"Carrie Fisher in one word? Singular. I know she's looking down and giving me the middle finger right now."
Johnson covered lots of topics in the Q&A, from porgs and Wookies to his favorite filming locations. While the plot of
The Last Jedi has been kept pretty tightly under wraps, Johnson said it was not too difficult to keep the film's secrets.
"Keeping secrets is not actually that hard, you just don't talk about anything, ever," Johnson said with a smile. The director also praised actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, noting that this film takes Boyega's character Finn in a "really cool, interesting place."
As expected, there were no major details about the film's plot revealed during the Q&A, but some of Johnson's answers gave us hints at certain parts of the film we should look closely at. Johnson talked about how the lightsaber fights were handled by the film's stunt coordinator and the actors, and that all he had to do was film it.
"I didn't have to do any fancy trickery because the actors were so with it," Johnson said. It will be interesting to see how the fight scenes differ from previous entries in the saga, as
behind the scenes footage has hinted towards both Rey and Kylo Ren fighting multiple people at once.
