Lately, everything happens around DC. Absolutely everything. In fact, the last thing that has been heard and that has become TT on social networks has to do with the premiere of the second part of Shazam, that is, with 'Shazam! The fury of the gods'. Critics dance a lot around the assessment of the film, but the most controversial issue has revolved around two actors in this chaotic cinematic universe. I'm talking about Shazam, Zachary Levi, and Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson. The first has confirmed that the second did not want him to appear in his film and vice versa, a fact that has provoked the anger of fans who describe the Rock as selfish. Have Shazam and Black Adam faced off-screen? Well yes, unfortunately, it has not been on the big screen and it has been outside.

But don't worry. Here come the comics to solve all that. Do you want a confrontation between both characters? You have it in this comic that we bring you here today. That and more, because this 'Shazam the Seven Magical Lands' has a very complete self-contained story about the character of Billy Batson and his superheroic family. It serves both initiates who come from the movies and for those who want to snack on something from this Captain Marvel who, when Shazam shouts, goes from being a teenager to an adult hero with magic as his main power.

Before continuing with the review, let's go with the technical section: script by Geoff Johns, drawing by Scott Kolins, Dale Eaglesham, Marco Santucci, Max Raynor, Mayo "Sen" Naito, hardcover, ECC editorial, contains Shazam! numbers, 1-11, 13-14 USA, 344 pages and a price of 36.50 euros.

Let's go with the review. Shazam!

Entertainment Geoff Johns at the service of the magic of Shazam

I always have a personal fight with Captain Marvel or Shazam, whatever you want to call him. Yeah, it's a fight I have in the comics and also in the movies. It is surely a generational issue because many times a comic or a certain character enters your eyes or not depending on how old you are. In my case, Shazam, in many moments, catches me, I think, very old. Or that I am directly a reader who prefers more dark and adult characters than other types of superheroes. That's why, sometimes, Shazam has been difficult for me to read.

Of course, the fact that I am not completely convinced by personal tastes cannot condition a criticism and I know that this type of adventure, especially the young public or those who have been reading this since their youth, love it. For this reason, seeing a classic from this section of Libertad Digital comics, such as Geoff Johns in the script, gives this work guarantees of being a comic, at least, to have a fun time and that fulfils it to The perfection.

We are facing a story that reminds us of the origins of the character. That's why it's a good input shot. But it goes further. Here we will know, as its own name indicates, the seven magical lands that exist and that, including the terrestrial one, ours, are all separated and hidden so that they cannot interfere with each other. The problem is that these superheroic children will get the chance to open a door that they shouldn't open. From there, all kinds of fantasy worlds will be planted before us, from the Funlands or the Wild Lands to worlds taken from a video game or a dark Tim Burton movie. All this with nods to the World of Oz, Dorothy, Alice in Wonderland, the witches, the rabbit, etc etc etc. Rugby World Cup 2023 live free

The script is 'made in Johns'. It's very cinematic. Very entertaining and in most cases very dynamic. Of course, this volume has been a bit slow for me at times. I see gaps in Geoff's script because I think it's too much, especially in the first Earth we visited, the Land of Fun. There I think he could have resolved or described that world more quickly, as he does with the rest. It's not an exaggeration by any means, but that's where the comic's narrative stopped for me a bit. For the rest, the script is fun, includes important and epic moments and has a quite successful final twist in my opinion. Of course, I repeat, it is more difficult for me because we are facing a story that, for better or for worse, has children and adolescents as protagonists. Funny is, of course, but also childish. what was said,

At the drawing level, several cartoonists. That always means abrupt changes in compilation volumes like this. It can shock you if you are not used to it or if you prefer one cartoonist much more than another. Of all those who appear here, I liked Dale Eaglesham's touch the most, which gives the characters more strength, spectacularity and musculature. Here are several examples of different types of drawing:

Conclusion: if you want to know something about Shazam (Captain Marvel) it is a good entry shot and more with Geoff Johns who does not let you get bored whatever the character he is. He has spectacular moments and a good twist ending. In the 'buts' chapter, the character seems childish or adolescent to me at many moments and I think he already catches me older in my case. Of course, for the youngest and the historical fans of the character, it is a very interesting and enjoyable self-contained story. If you like, enjoy reading.
