SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Trailer Promises An Electrifying Family-Focused Fantasy Blockbuster This Christmas

Warner Bros. has released the awesome first trailer Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and it looks like an absolutely wild ride! Check out this long-overdue sneak peek at the fantasy blockbuster right here...

With Warner Bros.' DC panel in full swing, the studio has just released the first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Tonally, it's exactly what we expected, though that's not a bad thing as the movie looks like an absolute joy. There's a giant dragon, lots of humour, and some great visuals as we reunite with the Shazam Family.

Interestingly, nearly everything we see here confirms that a recent plot leak for the Shazam! sequel is accurate.

That aside, Shazam! Fury of the Gods looks like another great family-friendly, fantasy blockbuster, and a movie perfectly suited to its Christmas release date. Billy Batson is clearly struggling with his newfound superhero status, though with Atlas' daughters out for blood, he'll have to step up and prove himself in what looks set to be the teenager's greatest challenge yet.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.

Returning cast members include Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, and Djimon Hounsou as Wizard.

Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler, with Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren.

David F. Sandberg directs the film from a script by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to open in theaters internationally beginning December 15, 2022 and in North America on December 21, 2022.

@Inktown03 - I'd say it looks as expected.

Family friendly fun. I'll check it out. Maybe not paying for it though, but I won't say if the wife takes me and the kids.

@ProfessorWhy - Especially Asher Angel. Like it's no longer a kid turning into a superhuman grown man. It's a grown man turning into a superhuman grown man lol.

@TheHumanSpider2 - right? I love Zachary but he’s aged a lot since the last movie. He almost looks thinner than the first

First one was fun. The family really enjoyed it. This one looks like it'll be even better.

Asher Angel looks 5 years away from being Zachary Levi's age.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - They should've casted someone who was 10, not 16...this was always going to be a problem with the sequel.

I really enjoyed the first film so I’ll watch this but man was that a mediocre trailer.

Also, Eminem is corny as [frick] - terrible music choice lol

@Nightmare - promoting movie doesn’t always promise success of it I saw anime movie in theaters forgot name there was no promotion on it at all that was in top five movies being successful at box office

Was not a big fan of the first one and - even forgiving them for using Eminem in a trailer again (I'm a sucker for thematic consistency) - I definitely don't think I'll be catching this one in theaters or HBO Max. It's got a cool cast but nothing else really seems appealing, and I've never enjoyed what Zachary Levi brings to this role (and playing Shazam like this was probably always going to be jarring), especially with how little it works with what the Billy actor is doing
