SHAZAM! Star Zachary Levi Says It Would Be A "Bummer" If Shazam Doesn't One Day Meet Black Adam

Zachary Levi has opened up on the possibility of Shazam crossing paths with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam on the big screen, admitting it would be a "bummer" for the two characters to not meet.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi recently paid a visit to Dragon Con 2021, and was once again asked about the possibility his DC Comics superhero could meet Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. A clash between the two seems inevitable, but it's not something Warner Bros. appears to be rushing towards despite the fact that both the Shazam! sequel and Black Adam were shooting at the same time.

"I would love to punch The Rock in the face," Levi joked (via The Direct). "It would be a dream."

"Honestly, all those things are way above my pay grade," he added on a slightly more serious note. "I have no idea how all of these things are going to ultimately carve up. I know that he’s a very busy man, and very successful. Again, very busy doing other movies. So, I don’t know if and when there is ever going to be that. I hope so!"

"Given the comic and the canon and all that stuff, I think it would be a bummer if Captain Marvel and Black Adam didn’t have at least their one meeting, whatever that's going to be," Levi concluded. "You know, I’ll just show up and put on the suit..."

It would be complete and utter madness for Shazam and Black Adam not to cross paths on the big screen, but this is Warner Bros. we're talking about here, and they don't exactly plan for the future!

There's a chance Levi and Johnson won't get to appear in the same space, especially as we know how things went the last time the studio attempted a team-up movie. Hopefully, The Flash will make them realise it can work, but we probably shouldn't bank on seeing it happen over the next few years.

Black Adam will be released on July 29, 2022, while Shazam! Fury of the Gods follows on June 2, 2023.

Interesting that he calls him Captain Marvel here.

@Gmoney84 - because he doesn't want to turn into Captain Marvel.

They better fast-track Shazam 3 then, cuz these kids aren't gonna get any younger.

If it doesn’t happen you can blame The Rock’s massive ego.

@BreakTheCode - This is probably the main reason I wasn't a fan of The Rock joining the DC movie franchise. The dude has a habit of trying to take over everything he's involved in and he's even said things on his social media like making Black Adam the most powerful "hero" in the DC universe. I'm hoping that I'm proven wrong and that he sticks true to the character, but I have a feeling that this will be just another 'The Rock Show'.

I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to get into the MCU but Kevin Feige was like "nah, we're good thanks".

If theye didnt that kind of wastes the whole point of Black Adam to me. That'd be like making a Zod movie and never connecting him to Superman. Sure you COULD but why would you?

It seems like they are trying to change Black Adam just to warrant The Rock playing him and feed his brand instead of serve the charcater.

@Ha1frican - or a Venom movie not connecting to Spider-Man 😏

I think it will happen, but I guess only as an event movie. Shazam 3 is probably gonna be Mister Mind and his Monster Society as that set up needs a pay off. And this Capt. Marvel needs to mature a bit more before he can face Adam. That is, if it's the same Black Adam from the comics

I hope to see Black Adam destroy Shazam.

I mean, BA kind of should have been introduced in a Shazam movie, for starters...

@Razorface1 - This is DC/WB, cut them a break. They literally make it up as they go along.

And this is what’s wrong with the DC universe, no plan. How are you going to have black Adam and Shazam possibly never meet??
Arthorious

@Cbmfilmjunkie - WB is that type of restaurant that will offer you a cheeseburger without the cheese or a ham sandwich without the ham or A steak dinner without the steak. This smells like the Venom movie franchise.

@Arthorious -So disheartening.

I love DC more than Marvel but the latter has built something that can’t be touched.
They should have let Snyder release his cut in theaters and then DC could have finished that trilogy and moved on from him but kept Cavill and Affleck and let other filmmakers craft new and interesting stories.
Now DC fans are split and the brand is tarnished.

It won't surprise me even in the slightest if we never get Shazam vs Black Adam.

"I think it would be a bummer if Captain Marvel and Black Adam didn’t have at least their one meeting."

With DC/WB, their never meeting on film (in their current casting) is very possible.

Hopefully this is a sign the next Shazam movie will finally call Billy's superhero name by the right name and that being Captain Marvel.

One of Billy’s greatest foes should definitely fight against him but watch WB mess it up somehow
