Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi recently paid a visit to Dragon Con 2021, and was once again asked about the possibility his DC Comics superhero could meet Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. A clash between the two seems inevitable, but it's not something Warner Bros. appears to be rushing towards despite the fact that both the Shazam! sequel and Black Adam were shooting at the same time.
"I would love to punch The Rock in the face," Levi joked (via The Direct). "It would be a dream."
"Honestly, all those things are way above my pay grade," he added on a slightly more serious note. "I have no idea how all of these things are going to ultimately carve up. I know that he’s a very busy man, and very successful. Again, very busy doing other movies. So, I don’t know if and when there is ever going to be that. I hope so!"
"Given the comic and the canon and all that stuff, I think it would be a bummer if Captain Marvel and Black Adam didn’t have at least their one meeting, whatever that's going to be," Levi concluded. "You know, I’ll just show up and put on the suit..."
It would be complete and utter madness for Shazam and Black Adam not to cross paths on the big screen, but this is Warner Bros. we're talking about here, and they don't exactly plan for the future!
There's a chance Levi and Johnson won't get to appear in the same space, especially as we know how things went the last time the studio attempted a team-up movie. Hopefully, The Flash will make them realise it can work, but we probably shouldn't bank on seeing it happen over the next few years.
Black Adam will be released on July 29, 2022, while Shazam! Fury of the Gods follows on June 2, 2023.
