Morbius is now playing in most major locations, and even though critics didn't respond particularly well to Sony Pictures' big-screen debut for Jared Leto's Spider-Man baddie (a slight understatement), the initial audience reaction tells a different story.
The Living Vampire's solo outing currently sits at an abysmal 16% on Rotten Tomatoes ("Cursed with uninspired effects, rote performances, and a borderline nonsensical story, this Spidey-adjacent mess is a vein attempt to make Morbius happen"), but the audience score has now been revealed, and it's a significantly higher 64%.
We often see a stark contrast between audiences and critics on the review aggregator, particularly when it comes to comic book/superhero movies. While it might be difficult to believe anyone would consider Morbius a truly great film, sometimes all cinemagoers are looking for is a little mindless entertainment, and we wouldn't be surprised if this latest "SPUMC" movie puts in a better-than-expected performance at the box office when all is said and done.
