AMAZING SPIDER-MAN issue 005

After swapping his mind into Peter's body, one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies, Doctor Octopus, set out to prove himself the Superior Spider-Man. He also completed Peter's PhD, fell in love with a woman named Anna Maria Marconi, and started his own company, "Parker Industries." But in the end Doc Ock realized that in order to be a true hero, he had to sacrifice himself and give control of Peter's body back to Peter.
Peter recently found out that someone else, Cindy Moon A.K.A. Silk, was bitten by his radioactive Spider giving her similar powers to Peter. And that's not the only thing they have in common.

THE AMAZING

SPIDER-MAN

ISSUE 005

This issue of The Amazing Spider-Man was absolutely FANTASTIC, I am incredibly excited for issue 6 because the cliffhanger this issue ends on is just...crazytownbananapants. But I am getting way ahead of myself. The issue kicks off with Black Cat gate crashing some sort of villain meet up with her brand new friend Electro. It is overly obvious that she is trying to restore her now ruined reputation, and the only way that she can do this is by using Electro for personal gain...I really can not see this ending well for her...but then again it also seems she ha her Bad Luck powers back so she might be safe for now. Anyway, a new villain is created call "The Eel" but to be honest it seems that he is a weak villain. Sadly he does not last very long due to Black Cat and Electro working together to destroy The Eel and his cronies. One thing I think comicbooks need, a new wave of villains that are completely original and not rip off's of the classics.
First Page, Second Page & Third Page

Meanwhile Cindy and Peter are happily snogging and well as Aunt May puts it in the Ultimate Universe "Hanky Panky". But before anything happens hat Peter would regret, and that Ramos would get in trouble for drawing, happens he is snapped out of his lust for Cindy when she reveals that she knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. So he puts his clothes back on and they have a very intelligent conversation...considering that five minutes prior they where ready to...Hanky Panky...Anyway, Peter is now aware that Morlun may be coming for him, but he doesn't seem to care that much at the moment.
Fourth Page & Fifth Page

Our good O'l Pal J.Jonah.Jameson has gotten himself a job at "The Fact Channel" which seeing as he is on there is anything but Fact. But before he makes his big television début he finds out he is being bumped to the second segment due to Parker Industries having the spotlight with Sajini presenting...but as we saw in the last page of issue four, she has been kidnapped by Black Cat and Electro...and she's enjoying it. Whilst she sips wine and eats caviare (yes fish eggs) she lets slip to Electro that Peter, well Parker Industries, is trying to find a way to cure him.
Sixth Page & Seventh Page

Black Cat is busy gate crashing ANOTHER criminal meet up where Phil Urich has crowned himself the New Goblin King and is meeting with Martin Li AKA Mr Negative. I had completely forgotten about The whole Goblin Army...where is Norman Osborn? I get a feeling that Black Cat might rally up a team of Super-Villains similar to The Sinister Six, Since Otto Octavius' death in issue 700, and the events of The Superior Spider-Man, there is no group of villains tat take on Spider-Man. I think we can expect great things from Black cat, terrible, but great.
Eighth Page & Ninth Page

Back at Peters apartment Anna Maria walks in on Peter and Cindy at it again on the ceiling. I can see it being a huge problem having Cindy and Peter in the dame room together. They will be at it like rabbits if they don't find a way to control their instincts. This is Crazy. Obviously Anna Maria is understanding that the man she fell in love with was Otto Octavius NOT Peter Parker so tat is good. But that still leaves the question of what will they do about it because they still live together. Also Cindy is incredibly protective of Peter. But Anna ignores all of what is going on and tells Peter that his company needs him...he basically acts like a big kid who has been told he can't play with his toys any more. At least he's more fun than Ock was.
Tenth Page & Eleventh Page

At "The Fact Channel" Peter is being prepared for his segment. He then bumps in to Jameson and treats him like a very old close friend, much to Jameson's dismay. Peter goes on to the show and announces that Parker Industries is going to be building a new better Super Villain prison that aims to rehabilitate Villains much better than the previous one did which Jameson so kindly gave to (Superior) Spider-Man when he went all Power crazy and built an Army. Just as he is mid way through his speech Electro stops the show with a power surge. Ah the Parker Luck, just as he is announcing that he will cure Electro that happens. Oh Slott you are evil.
Twelfth Page & Thirteenth Page

Black Cat walks through the smoke created by Electro's outburst and hold Peter to ransom so that Spider-Man will come. I love it when this sort of situation happens. When Peter has to pretend to be a coward and run of and actually change into his costume to be Spider-Man. I am surprised he has ever actually been exposed this way. Silk saves him and buys him enough time to escape...but he uses "Dropped my Glasses". Did all of that time in the mindscape make him forget he is not in High School any more? Also Black Cat shows a hint of jealousy towards Silk...and to be honest I think that there will be a very interesting conversation at some point between Silk and Cat about Spidey.
Fourteenth Page & Fifteenth Page

Spider-Man introduces Silk as "Spinning Jenny" and gets straight into fighting Electro and Black Cat, meanwhile Jameson is pointing like a lunatic and ordering the Camera man about. During the battle he announces that for a while Otto Octavius and him switched minds, but of course nobody will believe him. Silk proves to be way too fast for Electro or Black Cat to hit...but Spider-Man who they are both familiar fighting with was easily stopped, and Black Cat revealed her true intentions. She is going to unmask him in front of the whole world.
Sixteenth Page & Seventeenth Page

J. Jonah Jameson jumps with delight and grabs a microphone as Black Cat pulls up his mask to reveal his face to the World. This is absolutely brilliant. We have needed a plot twist like this for some time and now we finally have it. Granted that it has been done before, even voluntarily in Civil War, but can you imagine what would happen if they did not write in any clever way out of this in the next issue? It would literally be a repeat of Civil War where Jameson sues Peter for all he has. I do not want to have to wait another week or so for the next issue! I will definitely have it on pre-order.

Overall View

This issue was absolutely Brilliant in both story and artwork. There was some very obvious character development for Electro now learning that Peter Parker is working on a cure for him. I am surprised that he agreed to let Black Cat use him as a hostage. But I still feel that he has a lot more to do in coming stories. Black Cat has shown us her true manipulative dark side, and Anna Maria seems to be breaking way from the main plot. I have a theory that she might bring Octavius back somehow...and Peter and Silk. Well that is just a whole mess of character development, lust and a lot of unspoken words which I feel may become out in sooner issues. One thing i must say is how is all of this happening with Spider-Verse right around the corner? does this mean that our Spider-Man may not appear because he is too busy? or does it means that all of this will continue onwards along wit Spider-Verse. Maybe because Octavius' device can time travel it will all pick up exactly where they left off? Anyway I would rate this issue 10/10. Also feel free to check out my review of The Superior Spider-Man issue 032 to find out more about Spider-Verse.
