Andrew Garfield And Rhys Ifans Weigh In On The Direction Of Amazing Spider-Man!

Andrew Garfield comments on how he and the rest of the cast stayed true to both Stan Lee AND Marc Webb's vision in the upcoming movie, while Rhys Ifans shares his thoughts on the directors, "forensic, emotional eye"...

"I feel a great deal of weight," Andrew Garfield told MTV News in San Diego. "We all know how important it is to so many people, and it’s equally as important to us. We worked really hard to make [director] Marc Webb’s vision and [Spider-Man co-creator] Stan Lee’s original vision and the essence of that character come to life again for the audience in a different way."

Rhys Ifans meanwhile praised director Marc Webb's, "forensic, emotional eye. He added: "For all the flights and fancies that a superhero film delivers, inevitably, there is a human domesticity to this that hopefully will make people leave the cinema loving their parents."

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

I'm liking how this is sounding!
Focusing on character depth and story and surrounding that with all of the typical superhero action.
Just like Nolan did with his batman franchise.

I loved Mark Webb's work in 500 days of summer, yet i feel disappointed with the teaser for TASM. Hopefully next trailers will be better and of course, I hope that the movie will surprise me. Let's wait...

Wow... I can't believe people are predicting this to be better that spiderman 2 after just the teaser... so the movis is ALREADY better than not onle one of the most successful but one of best CBMs ever... if not one of the best action films to date...
MarkV

Supposedly the teaser is misleading, and Spider-Man is quite the little wise cracking, chatter box wisenheimer. Lets just chillax for a moment and wait for the next trailer before we all have a stroke, mmmK?

Oh...and PS I love Spiderman 2, but lets just keep our eyes wide open and see how this pans out. Good or bad, at least spiderman is staying on the big screen. I used to run around in a halloween spiderman mask year round as a kid, so it's so f/u/k/ing awesome that they are still making these films.

I'm excited for this film, but after seeing Garfield introducing the panel at comic con i have full faith in his intentions as Spider-Man, it seemed genuine. That's enough for me right now.

@spiderneil
1. Garfield's hair
2. The dark tone in the trailer (may be different in the movie)
3. Aimed at teenage audience
4. The first poster of garfield as spider-man looked very dark gritty/twilightish

Just to name a few.....

1. Garfield's hair
HA HA are you serious?

2. The dark tone in the trailer (may be different in the movie)
Twilight isn't a dark movie.

3. Aimed at teenage audience
the raimi trilogy was aimed at a teenage audience.

4. The first poster of garfield as spider-man looked very dark gritty/twilightish
post a picture of twilight that resembles the first released picture of garfield in the spidey costume.

@ mothman

if you look at garfield's body of work compared to hardy', garfield is a far more talented actor with more range.
