Talking to Ellen DeGeneres recently, a bearded Andrew Garfield has revealed that The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will begin shooting next February. This puts the Marc Webb helmed follow-up on track for its May 2nd, 2014 release date. Plot details are scarce at the moment, although we do know that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants ) will play Mary Jane Watson and Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) has signed up to play Electro. It's also thought that Norman and Harry Osborn will feature in the film, with some speculating that Homeland's Damian Lewis will possibly be portraying the former after he reportedly passed on the role now filled by Foxx.

lets hope its "very, very good" because the first one was "very, very bad"

The first was actually "very, very good". I thought it was decent the first time seeing it. But after watching it about 4 more times on Blu-Ray it's gotten better.

He looks like he's put on a few pounds. I hope he's a little bigger in ASM 2 than he was in the first.

the first movie had its moments but it had its flaws as well.raimi's spider-man is better than webb's the amazing spider-man.

I hope to see more POV in this one since POV wasn't so much in the first one

I don't get how people didn't like the new one.
Once I got over the new costume and lack of Lizard snout, I saw an enjoyable drama telling more grounded version of the Spider-Man origin, complemented by the best Spidey action we've seen yet.

"Very, very good" is not Amazing. Just another reason to feel neutral about the film...

The first film was not "very, very good". Any self-respecting Spider-Man wouldn't say that.

I thought The Amazing Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man yet. I second what, Vapes, said on the whole enjoyable drama with a more grounded version of the Spider-Man origin. The Lizard was great, I hope Rhys Ifans comes back as Dr.Connors. It was a great take on the Spider-Man mythos. I really enjoyed the sub-plot being "The Hunt for Spider-Man". I thought that was an awesome thing to do with Captain Stacy. You had actors who invest themselves into the roles so much that you buy them as the characters.

Unfortunately, I want to look forward to the sequel but it's hard when Electro is the villain.

TASM may not have been AMAZING, but it was pretty good. I'm a little excited for the sequel. My expectations for this franchise has gone down, but I'm still excited :D

Sorry, but when was Foxx confirmed to have signed on for the role? Last thing I'd read was Webb saying he was an interesting option, and nothing more.

I watched Raimis Spidey the other day 1 & 2 ( Cuz who really gives a [frick] bout 3 XD ) & I liked his version better. I didn't really like Lizard as the villain. I'm not 2 fond of Foxx playin Electro either he doesn't strike me as the evil guy.But hey I've only watched Ray & Collateral with Jamie in it so.... XD

Here's the thing. TASM really had some problems, for instance, totally ruining Connors/Lizard's character and making him extremely 2-dimensional. But the things that TASM got right, it really freakin' got right.
Bring on the sequel!

jamie foxx as electro is terrible just as bad as michael clarke duncan as the kingpin,if a character is white in the comics he should be white in the film.

their is plenty of black characters for black actors to play.

@marvel72 your right but what if Jamie foxx is genuinely good in the role, isn't that all that matters?

Man the douchebags came out of the woodwork on this article lol. Anywho, the interview up top was funny. Lewis is amazing in Dreamcatcher, and I never understood why he wasn't a big name because of his performance in that film. He's good at being creepy so him as Norman would be perfect. I like Jamie Foxx, the guy is an under-rated actor and all of his movies are good, especially the ones where he is a leading character like Law Abiding Citizen or Collateral.
