When I was little, I never read comics. I was always outside. Seeing X-Men and Spider-Man in the theaters as my first superhero movies, I fell in love with them instantly. Obviously, Spider-Man the most of any superhero. Been reading comics, watching shows, playing video games, etcetera based off of our Wall Crawling menace ever since. He's the greatest to me. If you ask me, Spider-Man has the best solo superhero film franchise so far. I'm not saying all of his movies are excellent. Spider-Man 3 is the weakest but, I don't believe it has its Batman and Robin or Superman: The Quest for Peace yet. This being said, here are my top ten moments of the Spider-Man film franchise.
10: Wrestling Match
Bonesaw: "What are you doing up there?"
Peter: "Staying away from you. That's a cute outfit, did your husband get it for you?"
One of my favorite scenes in the original film. They included the wrestling match from the origin and I thought it was a really neat scene. It had its fun action and humor. I just think in general, it has a nice blend of a little bit of everything. The only problem I have with it is the lack of Spider-Sense. They never used it until Spider-Man 2. Dumb move if you ask me.
9: Hospital Horror
This has director Sam Raimi, clearly written all over it. Not a freeky scene by any means but, definitely a rather intense one. Executed so well and we definitely get a horrified Octavious that really sells it. Personally, I do not envy those surgeons. Do you? I hope not. Plus, the tentacles tossed a cab. That shit is cool.
8: Bank Scene
Spider-Man written all over it. Exciting Spidey action, wit and hell, Aunt May gets a humorous moment in the scene. There really isn't much to say about this scene other than it's Spider-Man to the core.
7: Subway Scene
Thomas Haden Church is one of the very few saving graces in the movie. Saves it from being Spider-Man's "Batman & Robin" and "Catwoman". I like this scene cause the entire movie, Flint Marko is just a desperate man doing bad things for a good cause. Here, he shows his fear out of violence and takes on a very vengeful Spider-Man in a rather intense action scene.
6: Burning Car
I really enjoy this scene cause it's a tender moment and while yes, we knew he was going to save him. I like the fact it at least a sense of danger and the feeling of "what if he doesn't". This and the dinner scene, Peter realizes he's not being a hero and he finds that he must be responsible and be the hero the city needs.
5: Peter and Gwen
I love all of Peter and Gwen's scenes together in The Amazing Spider-Man. This is just a clip from my favorite scene between the two. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have that spark that never was there between Peter and Mary Jane in the original trilogy. This chemistry is one of the biggest reasons why, The Amazing Spider-Man works so well.
4: J. Jonah Jameson
If you ask me, J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson is perfect casting. Nobody can do it better. He embodies Jameson perfectly. He's the best part of the entire trilogy. Sure, I won't lie, he was missed by me and of course millions of others in, The Amazing Spider-Man. But, if Jameson isn't in your top five. You might as well let me get a hit off that joint.
3: Clock tower/train fight
Spider-Man 2's best scene is when Spider-Man and Doc Ock duke it out in arguably the best Spider-Man fight scene in the franchise yet. High octane action in the most Spider-Man way you can without the humor and the ending with Peter saving the train is practically perfect. There really isn't much higher praise you can get with this scene. Unfortunately, the crappy extended version is the only good quality version on youtube.
2: High School fight
I won't lie, this is my favorite fight scene in the franchise. Everything in this scene just screamed Spider-Man. The humor, the way he fought, everything. Plus, no villain would've made it more perfect than, The Lizard. Great scene. The bit between Peter and Gwen before he threw her out the window was pretty good too. Plus, it beholds the greatest Stan Lee cameo ever!
1: Birth of Venom
Talk shit all you want about Topher Grace. He is a very good actor and did the character justice. Yes, he is still skinny. But, it's the spirit of the character is what mostly matters. The two examples at the top of my head that proves he can act are, In Good Company and Predators. But, that's not your guys' problem with him. He wasn't the big buff Venom from the comics and he got the short end of the stick. I'll agree with the latter but, I don't mind he wasn't buff. The reason this scene is number one is because it had a good dramatic effect, anticipation and simply because it's the birth of arguably Spider-Man's deadliest enemy.
Honorable Mention: Spider-Man vs Green Goblin final battle.
The reason I cut this one is because, I didn't want a list full of action scenes.
