BOX OFFICE: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Set For $37M Friday; Will It Beat CAPTAIN AMERICA?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has earned around $37 million today (including the $8.7 million taken at late Thursday night showings) and now looks set for a three-day debut of $90 million. Other analysts are estimating a far more conservative $85 million, meaning that the Marc Webb helmed sequel WON'T beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier to take the title of 2014's highest opening movie. It could still happen, but that really depends on word of mouth and whether or not families flock to the see the kid-orientated Sony movie tomorrow as the studio are hoping. It's tricky to compare this opening with 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man as that debuted early on a Tuesday ahead of the July 4th holiday weekened. Are you planning on seeing the movie this weekend? Do you hope it beats Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
