Following reports that he was up for the role of Harry Osborn and then being spotted leaving the sequel's director Marc Webb's home, Chronicle actor Dane DeHaan seemed more than likely to nab The Amazing Spider-Man 2 role. However, more actors' names have been tossed in the mix since then. But recently making promotional rounds for the Blu-ray and DVD release of his gangster film Lawless, DeHaan weighed in on both subjects with Crave Online.
“You know, I would love to be in Spider-Man. I have a lot of respect for Andrew Garfield as a person and an artist and a lot of respect for Marc Webb as a person and an artist. If that opportunity were to come along, I would be really flattered and humbled to be a part of it. But that’s about it for now I guess.” When asked if already auditioned, DeHaan replied, “Well, I know there’s a lot of names being tossed around and rumors and stuff, but again, it’s a project I would love to do and if the opportunity would come along and the offer would come along, I would love to do it. Until then, I don't think it’s worth speculating or creating rumors.”
As of now starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Fields, and reportedly Shailene Woodley with Jamie Foxx, The Amazing Spider-Man sequel is scheduled for release on May 2, 2014.
