Emma Stone explains that Gwen Stacy will be more complex than just the one dimensional "damsel in distress."

Latino Review caught up with Emma Stone at WONDER CON and asked her what Gwen Stacy would be like as a character in the upcoming "Amazing Spider Man".
Here's what Ms. Stone had to say.

“There are elements of women who are damsels of distress. She is strong and independent, [who is] incredibly intelligent. She is the valedictorian. She has her life planned out ahead of her. She is the oldest of the family. She feels very responsible,” Stone explained about her character Gwen Stacy.

She continued, “Everyone is stupid in love. So her first love is…..Spider-Man. There [are] elements of being a damsel in distress, which is important. Women don’t always have to be just the one thing. They could be lots of things, including a damsel in distress.”

I really don't think her character is going to be that much of a departure from the tried and true, money making formula of the damsel in distress.

"The Amazing Spider Man" will be released on July 3rd.
