Before Spider-Man: Far From Home even entered production there were persistent rumors that The Chameleon would be introduced in the movie, and now we might just have confirmation.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Here's Everything We Know About The Spidey Sequel So Far

Deadline reports that Numan Acar (Homeland, Disney's Aladdin remake) has been added to the cast of the Spidey sequel, and although no details on his role have been revealed, we do know that he's playing a character named Dmitri.

There are several Dmitris in the Marvel Comics Universe, but the one most closely associated The Webhead is Dmitri Smerdyakov, a.k.a. The Chameleon.

Of course, this is pure speculation at this point, but it is also worth noting that Acar is fluent is several different languages, which would certainly come in handy if he was playing a master of disguise!

I'm starting to get worried this film won't properly address the cliffhanger ending of Homecoming. If there is a time jump it'll be hard to show how May initially reacts to finding out.

As much as I loved Homecoming, I was disappointed such an important comic book moment was essentially skipped over and played for laughs.

@Nightwing1015 - I don't see what they wouldn't address it. Just because time has passed doesn't mean she has come to peace with what Peter is doing.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah but because of the time jump they'll be less likely to actually show the conversation that directly followed the reveal. Are they going to do a flashback set 2 years in the past?

@Nightwing1015 - I don't think its necessary to retread to that moment. We saw how shocked May was. But that shock and mixed feelings will likely still persist and I think, if done well, it could be an important ingredient in the story as she questions what Peter does (especially after Infinity War).

@HeavyMetal4Life - Just as long as it's dealt with in some way. They've teased May finding out for 6 Spider-Man movies now. I think the fans are due at least one conversation that's serious in tone like in the comics.

He looks like kraven

He was pretty good in Homeland. But I don't think he's playing Chameleon.

Surely they'd make a bigger announcement than this for that type of casting?

@L0RDbuckethead - Well the castings of both Shockers in Homecoming was pretty low key.

@BreakTheCode - Touché. Don't get me wrong, if it is Chameleon I'd be happy. I just didn't think this is how they'd go about announcing it.

Hmm, Chameleon and Mysterio working together? Makes sense, both know how the mess with people in different areas of perception.

Still not really positive about this movie.

As long as we're speculating... I'm going to say he's been cast as the spider that bit Peter Parker in a nightmarish Cirque du Soleil feverdream flashback.

I wish comic book movies would stop casting actors in mysterious roles. Making us fans theorize for hours on original characters that aren't in the comics.

I would saved him to help kraven, but fair enough.

This is my best guess for the MCU moving forward

2019
Captain Marvel
Avenges 4
Spiderman:Far From Home

2020
Black Widow (March date Fox secured)
Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3
X-Force
Dr. Strange:Sorcerer Supreme

2021
Black Panther:Enemy of the State
Eternals
Spiderman 3
Wolverine
Fantastic Four

2022
Captain Marvel:Cosmic Avenger
Uncanny X-Men
Avengers:Secret Wars

@WakandaTech - x-force and wolverine before the xmen?, eh......
Pantherpool

@WakandaTech - I don't think the X-Men and FF will be introduced this early.
GwenLantern

@AngryCipher - If X-Force happens after Disney aquire Marvel, I don't think it'll be MCU.

Maybe it'll just be a last hurrah for the FoX-Men Universe.

However, if they acquire Fox before X-Force goes into production, then I don't see it happening at all.

Poor Drew.

@WakandaTech - I never understood why people want a MCU Wolverine movie. At this point he's had 3 solo movies, his backstory was the plot of X-2 and he's essentially the main character of every X-Men movie he's in with exception to First Class and Apocalypse which he was shoehorned into. I'm not against a new Wolverine in the MCU but I'm kind of done spending two hours watching ol Wolvie stabbing people only ever stopping to lament over his past and/or current dead girlfriend.

@Pantherpool - FF in 2021 is realistic. Fox acquisition should close by end of 2018. In 2019 Disney puts FF into development. By 2020 production and shooting. Release in 2021. That's realistic.

@WakandaTech - A Wolverine solo ain't happenin. Neither will an X-Force. It'll be some incarnation of the X-Men, and a character or two MIGHT spin off if they're popular enough. Actually, my money right now is on Deadpool being the only MCU solo X-Men franchise, at least for a little while.
