The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an upcoming American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb and released by Columbia Pictures. It is a sequel to the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man and was announced in 2011. The studio hired James Vanderbilt to write the screenplay and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to re-write it. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Chris Cooper, Sally Field, and Felicity Jones are set to star. The film is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2014 in 2D and 3D.

For Peter Parker, life is busy. Between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen Stacy, high school graduation cannot come quickly enough. Peter has not forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away, but that is a promise he cannot keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Oh and he was in a Fincher film....

For all the issues I have with TASM, Garfields performance makes the movie for me. As many others have said he's recently got the lead role in the next Scorsese movie, and that itself is an accomplishment.

@imadick I think a lot of people (myself included) like Spider-Man to be skinny. He's such an agile, acrobatic character that a skinny but muscular physique really looks better on the character and helps to make him look a bit more realistic (well, as realistic as a guy in red and blue tights climbing on walls and swinging on webs can look, I suppose).

Plus, as he's skinny it helps him to look more like a teenager (like the character) rather than a fully grown adult.

I think Spider-Man is one of the few characters who looks better skinny.
