Last night, Sony Pictures' Kraven the Hunter movie took a major step forward when Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast as the title character. He's an unexpected choice, but it's worth remembering that he looks like this now, and not what many fans remember from Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Very little is known about what J.C. Chandor has planned for this Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC) movie, but a description of this take on Kraven has led to a lot of speculation online.
Shared by the studio, it reads: "One of Sony Pictures' universe of Marvel characters, Kraven is one of Marvel's most iconic and notorious antiheros, who has encountered Venom and Black Panther, among many others, as well as being one of Spider-Man's best known and most formidable enemies."
While this isn't an official synopsis, it does come our way from Sony Pictures. Honestly, we're pretty sure that this is only meant as a generic description of the villain, but as you might expect, speculation is running rampant online that it could mean there will be ties between the SPUMC and the MCU.
That's certainly possible with Spider-Man seemingly being lined up to jump between worlds, and it would be pretty cool to get some sort of reference to Kraven having a history with the Wakandans.
Kraven the Hunter is set to be released in theaters on January 13, 2023.
