Sony Pictures has reshuffled its upcoming slate, and has moved a handful of planned Marvel titles to new release dates.
J. C. Chandor's Kraven the Hunter leaves January and will now open on October 6, 2023; while S. J. Clarkson's Madame Web is heading to February 16, 2024. The studio has also moved an "Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe" movie up from June to July 12, 2024.
While a Tom Hardy-fronted Venom sequel is probably the safest bet for that July 2024 date, we wouldn't necessarily be surprised if the studio is actually reserving that prime summer slot for the fourth theatrical Spider-Man adventure starring Tom Holland. Both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home opened in that same window to much success, with the latter even grossing over $1 billion globally.
Looking ahead, Marvel Studios has already dated Thunderbolts for July 26, 2024; so it's probably unlikely Spider-Man 4 would arrive in such close proximity with another Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, but we'd imagine Sony will want at least one more solo Spidey outing before he inevitably returns for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and/or Avengers: Secret Wars in 2025, and that Summer 2024 date may be the best available option.
Kraven the Hunter recently entered post-production. The film will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role as Sergei Kravinoff, with a supporting cast comprised of Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, and Levi Miller.
Madame Web is currently filming and is expected to wrap near the end of next month. It will star Dakota Johnson in the title role, with a supporting cast consisting of Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet.
