In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

After rehashing basically everything from Raimi's Spider-Man, Webb is taking one of the only original ideas (albeit terrible), from his movie and rehashing it in the second one.

@Jollem

There was nothing new and or interesting in The Amazing Spider-Man. Here'e the best analogy I can think of. Say Webb and Raimi are taking the same test, and Raimi is obviously the better student and Webb knows this. Webb decides to sit next to Raimi so he can cheat and do well on the test, but he has to make sure to change a couple of answers so nobody becomes suspicious. Well Webb failed, it's not that the film was bad, it was just completely underwhelming and forgettable. He added nothing new to the series.

Even Rotten Tomatoes admits it revisits many of the same plot points as the original.

"A well-chosen cast and sure-handed direction allow The Amazing Spider-Man to thrill, despite revisiting many of the same plot points from 2002's Spider-Man"

The bottom line is that it was an instantly forgettable movie, that was basically a re hash of the Raimi Spider-Man. We were supposed to get the untold story instead we got the same freaking story, just with different characters and a different villain. I understand there will always be blind fan boys that can't see the forest from the trees, but there was nothing special about TAS.

By great many people, you mean the people that caused it only gross 260 million domestically (and that's with inflated 3D ticket prices). The fact is that TAS Spider-Man sold less than half as many tickets as the original. People didn't feel like shelling out money for something they have already seen. I really hope the second one is great, because I was pissed off when I walked out of the first one.

@RidiculousFanboy your name fits you well.

Sony scrapped Webbs original cut in favor of something more like Raimi's Spider-Man.

The two films aren't even that alike besides the origin story. So please, just stop being extremely ignorant, and pretending that they're clones or something.

People coming on here and bitching to the high heavens about the two different Spider-Mans should find something better to do.

I hate it when people say " no one care for TASM, Nobody liked TASM, ... I care for tasm! people should get used to saying "In my opinion" @RidiculousFanBoyDemand - really?.. after the list that Jollem put up you are still going to say it was a rehash??.. its a spider-man movie! it is part 1 of 3 movies.. things kind of just need to happend..
