Looks Like Irrfan Khan Will NOT Be Playing Proto-Goblin In Spider-Man Reboot!

The actor has revealed that he was no keen on joining the cast of Spider-Man and that the only way he could be convinced was by the promise that he would not play a masked villain or creature of any kind...

Although we already know that the Bollywood star will be playing Nels Van Adder, it has also been widely speculated that this meant he'd be playing little known villain, Proto-Goblin. Well, the following excerpt from an interview he did with Indian Express seems to debunk any possibility that we'll see him transform into the monsterous villain at any point in the upcoming movie!

While he is looking forward to Spiderman, the 48-year-old confesses, that initially he wasn’t keen on the project. "I didn’t want to be part of this violent American fantasy. But both my sons were excited and kept insisting that I take it up." But the intricacy and freshness of the script finally won. Even then, Irrfan placed one condition before Webber — he didn’t want to be a masked villain or become another creature. Spiderman’s schedule in Los Angeles will follow his March shoot for Life of Pi in Taiwan.

What do you guys think about this? I personally am extremely relieved! Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place though. The currently untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!
