Marc Webb Weighs In On SPIDER-WOMAN Appearing In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

It's widely believed that Marvel don't hold the rights to Spider-Woman, leading many to wonder why she hasn't appeared in either Sam Raimi or Marc Webb's Spider-Man movies, especially now that a number of spin-offs are in the works. Would Webb be interesting in introducing her? Find out here...

In a recent interview with E! Online, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb was asked if he has any plans to introduce Spider-Woman (a character who have become more prominent in recent years thanks to her role in The Avengers and Marvel's "Ultimate" line of comic books) now that Sony are expanding the iconic Marvel character's cinematic universe. "Anything is possible, but that hasn't been on my mind," he told the site, "but it's an interesting idea." Unfortunately, as it's likely that the third instalment in The Amazing Spider-Man has already been at least provisionally planned out, the fact that Webb hasn't even considered introducing Jessica Drew is troubling for fans of the character to say the least. Could this "interesting idea" change his mind?

Where her origins have nothing to do with Spider-man, I was under the impression that Marvel held the rights to her character.

I think he's unaware that Marvel probably owns the rights to her.
But either way, Spider Woman would be so cool to see in the Avengers although people unaware of the comics may see Marvel ripping off from the Spider Man franchise.

People would think she is a Spider-Man rip-off.

I hate Spider-Woman. Basically female/alternate versions of super heroes that exist in the same world. Same goes for She-Hulk and Supergirl. Can't think of other examples but I feel they take away from the original characters.

As far as Spider related characters go, I always love Julia Carpenter/Arachne.
I think she's very underrated and would be great to see in a mini-series or even as a supporting character in one of the movies.

@Pasto

Yeah exactly what I meant. They'd think Marvel was ripping off from the Spider Man franchise by having a "Spider Woman" in there own. But I hope Marvel go ahead and use her in some form eventually.

Ah... now I get it. It was E! Online asking. No wonder.

They're hoping for a Spider-Twilight or Spider-Divergent love thingy thing for Spider-Man and Spider-Woman.

I agree with @worstfanever. In the history of comics they have very little in common other than their name. I doubt Marc Webb even knows who Spider-Woman is.

One time I was in my room, and a huntsman spider got in through the window. I remember seeing that bastard dart from one side of my room to the other. I becomes so paralyzed I thought I was going to pass out. I got to the point where I started throwing stuff at him. I went nowhere NEAR that thing. I finally managed the strength to grab some shoes and beat the shit out of him.

I hate spiders...
