During their presentation at CCXP Worlds this evening, Sony Pictures dropped the first official clip from Daniel Espinosa's Morbius, which reveals a dark change of pace for Marvel as we bear witness to Dr. Michael Morbius' (Jared Leto) terrifying transformation into the Living Vampire, which ends with an extreme amount of bloodshed.
Along with the new clip comes the first official poster for the film, spotlighting Leto while teasing the arrival of a new Marvel legend. As for how this adventure will tie into the greater multiverse, that remains to be seen, but between this, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, things are certainly looking up for our friendly neighborhood wallcrawler and his amazing friends.
The upcoming Spider-Man spinoff stars Academy Award-winner Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049; Suicide Squad) in the title role, with a supporting cast consisting of Matt Smith (Terminator: Genisys; Doctor Who), Adria Arjona (6 Underground; Triple Frontier), 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Jared Harris (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; Chernobyl), Al Madrigal (I'm Dying Up Here; About a Boy), Tyrese Gibson (F9; Transformers), and Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming; Batman) as the Vulture.
Morbius is scheduled to open in theaters on January 28, 2022.
