MORBIUS: First Official Clip & Poster Reveal Jared Leto's Terrifying Transformation Into The Living Vampire

During their presentation at CCXP Worlds this evening, Sony Pictures dropped the first official clip from Daniel Espinosa's Morbius, which reveals a dark change of pace for Marvel as we bear witness to Dr. Michael Morbius' (Jared Leto) terrifying transformation into the Living Vampire, which ends with an extreme amount of bloodshed.

Along with the new clip comes the first official poster for the film, spotlighting Leto while teasing the arrival of a new Marvel legend. As for how this adventure will tie into the greater multiverse, that remains to be seen, but between this, Spider-Man: No Way HomeVenom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, things are certainly looking up for our friendly neighborhood wallcrawler and his amazing friends.

The upcoming Spider-Man spinoff stars Academy Award-winner Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049Suicide Squad) in the title role, with a supporting cast consisting of Matt Smith (Terminator: GenisysDoctor Who), Adria Arjona (6 Underground; Triple Frontier), 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Jared Harris (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.Chernobyl), Al Madrigal (I'm Dying Up HereAbout a Boy), Tyrese Gibson (F9Transformers), and Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: HomecomingBatman) as the Vulture.

Morbius is scheduled to open in theaters on January 28, 2022.

One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first, it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

If Kraven looks like this quality then I’ll be hopeful for it. If it looks like Venom then I’ll wait a few year later like with SS

OT:

There’s been plenty cbm’s this year but since last year was so horrible in way more important ways, I count BoP and WW84 along with the cbm’s of this year. I suppose that would include Bloodshot but I ain’t seen it yet. It’ll be a few years before I care to I’m sure

Looks pretty cool. I wonder if he’s gonna be portrayed as an anti-hero or a straight up bad guy.

his digital makeup fx are dope but the action looks so much like a video game. gives off very heavy bloodshot vibes.

Ok, so I rewatched venom 2 and that end credit scene...does venom know this Peter? That's got some pretty serious implications, since they make a point of addressing variants like maguire and garfield look different. Might have to do with the plot of no way home maybe, as well as vulture being in morbius.

@Origame - It linda seemed like Venom was hinting at him being and extradimensional being when he was going to tell Eddie his past but that obv got cut off by him being pulled into the MCU

@Ha1frican -

There's the scene for reference. Venom was sharing some general knowledge gathered from his species before they went to the mcu. In fact venom is genuinely surprised by traveling the multiverse.

No, I think they're hinting at something happening before Eddie got the symbiote. Maybe there was another facility in New York that they used to experiment on venom before it got loose and infected this universe's Spiderman, which is also Tom Holland.

Oh damn, they should not have released this. This looks goofy as hell. The potential fun action was all this really had going for it, but now I know the quality they aim for.

Imma pass on this.

Sony's ability to transform Spiderman characters into shitty movies is truly terrifying.

Kind of wish they went practical with him a lil, but doesnt look bad. Definitely looks like it's better than both Venom movies.

This is very similar to the carnage clip. Bad guy transforms abs hides in shadows, military/security move in apprehensively, they get taken out one by one

Look, it seems better than either Venom movie that were actively bad but it’s also looks painfully generic and cheap. I’ll probably end up watching it but I’m expecting like a 6/10 and as long as it doesn’t runs UKG my intelligence or attempt to be funnier than it’s ever capable of being like Venom I’ll probably enjoy it for what it is.

This is gonna be just as awful as Venom 2 and another pgfied Marvel movie this time with a blood drinking vampire, only thing horrifying about this will be how awful it's gonna be.

Looks pretty [frick]ing cool.
I'm guessing it'll be something like the 90s and 2000s comics where he's anti-hero territory.
Bloodsplatters are nice touches.

I'm looking forward to this Morbius crossing paths with Blade. Could be epic.

Man the reception to this clip seems pretty positive but I still think this movie looks like shit. I don’t care to see this Morbius cross paths with MSU Spidey

What a great clip!
I fell asleep early on and it was still going on when I woke up. Fantastic.

Yeah, sarcasm aside? This seems like a lot that DTV Man-Thing movie. I will probably sit through it once out of pure fan-dedication and then put it away forever.
