The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3rd 2012, Starring Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.

You know Grif, this isn't on main. Meaning that you came to the Spider-Man articles out of your own free will to check up on the news. I think you secretly like this film :)

So are they "releasing" every "photo" they take snap-shots of? Or are they just excited that its Peter Parker and Spider-Man is coming?

@batlizard11, Omg Bane looks so retarded there. That jockstrap/chastity belt. The only thing menacing about him is his voice so far. It will probably grow on me up until the release of TDKR, or perhaps while I'm watching the movie.

And the Peter pic is spot on, he looks like a complete dork, and nerd. The new Spidey costume is still growing on me though, the thing I hate the most about it is the sole of the boots, if they were gonna make em a color it should've been black. And also the hip area of the costume, all blue, with no red streak at all :-(. At least a stripe of some sort.

@mrthingswehate

I'm actually very excited for this movie thanks. It's just there are some people on this site that won't let people simply not be excited about it without engaging in debates about why they're not hyped up.

I am hoping it's going to be brilliant, but honestly it could go either way.

@TheAmazingHipsterMan Dude, when you are going to learn to shup up? Every article you are just talking about how awesome that movie is and whoever disagrees with you, you laugh at him, and you say that he/she is not "true" spidey fan. Oh, and yeah that is soooooo funny that some people like the better version of lizard that is not in the movie "LMAO".
Like I said before Worst Spidey Fan Ever.
Not because you have your own opinion, but because you are just trash talking troll who is trying to prove that his opinion is right and everybody else is wrong.

@TheAmazingHipsterMan

I'm sorry but you really are a jerk.

As PeterParkersWeb said
"whoever disagrees with you, you laugh at him" and if someone has a go at you, you get all offended.

People happen to like that version you posted, it's called different tastes. I myself don't like the look of the lizard in the film because I just don't see the "lizard", i just see a green guy with a tail.

You're forever going on about how this movie will shut the haters up, honestly I think you just want it to be good so you can go on about how you were right and we were all wrong.

Shut up.

I never said that I see this film as horrible. I just really don't like some of the decisions they made and I like Tobey's Peter more. Webb is a "new" director and as Joss Whedon said Raimi and Nolan invented the superhero flick so they are the masters. I think this movie is going to be good. Webb is talented, Andrew too, but I don't think is gonna be as good as one of the best CBM Spider-Man 2. Maybe if this movie wouldn't be called The Amazing Spider-Man, but Spectacular/Ultimate (pick one) I would like this movie more. Because this movie has a completly different take on Spider-Man and Raimi was closer to the comics (not including webshooters and Gwen).

@PeterParkersWeb Spider-Man 2 falls under the good for it's time category it is awful when you watch it now. also Tobey was a bad Peter...

Sorry but I beg to differ. I think Tobey was great Peter. He showed how a real nerd would become a superhero and the chemistry between him and Aunt May was outstanding. She and he showed us that there is a hero in all of us. Spider-Man 2 nevel felt, Andrew would tell you the same.

I am really excited for this movie and cannot wait to see it, I hope it is successful, I love the casting choices for every character especially Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. I like that the lizard has a more humane look than what looks like godzilla in the photo above. I personally can't even watch the old Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire, his portrayal of spider-man is boring and bland. This new film looks like it is going to be what the old spider-man films should have been. I really like the new spider-man suit, it gives it a fresh and modern look to it. Emma Stone is by far a perfect Gwen Stacy and finally gives a spider-man film an attractive leading lady.

The people out there hating on the little details really need to tone it down a bit for example not seeing the movie because the Lizard does not look right, or if Peter Parker skateboards, or if Peter does not look like a classic nerd. But haters are going to hate for no reason.
