Poor Tom Holland has spent the better part of a year denying that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but we obviously now know each of their Peter Parker Variants are part of the threequel. Talking to Marvel.com, the actor was finally presented with the opportunity to share his thoughts on sharing the screen with his fellow Spider-Men.
"Tobey was so funny," Holland recalls. "We have so many little in-jokes that came up from working with Tobey. 'Definitely not your dad.' He was really excited to be back. You could tell it really meant a lot to him. Him putting the suit on again. Us getting back together. It was awesome."
As for Garfield, Holland echoed the thoughts of many fans by acknowledging that Spider-Man: No Way Home offered the actor a shot at redemption after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 prematurely ended his tenure. "The legend himself. He's such a lovely guy. I think this film was his way of making peace with Spider-Man It was such a privilege to work with him. I know that it meant a lot to him."
In the same interview, he also praised his villainous co-stars, including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. He stole the show as the demented Norman Osborn, and Holland opened up on the sort of uniqueness he brought to the movie's set. "I've never worked with an actor who was able to give a director so many options," Holland admits. "He has this one speech in the film where he's talking about Peter's kind of existential crisis. He must have done the scene 30 times and they were all different."
Spider-Man: No Way Home was clearly as special for Holland as it was for us. This is the first time he's talked about working with Tobey and Andrew, and we're definitely keen to hear more from them on their respective experiences reprising their most famous roles.
