POLL: What Do You Think Of The Amazing Spider-Man Title And Costume?

I think it's fair to say that the first glimpse of the costume back in January led to something of a mixed response. While the mechanical web shooters were well recieved by purists, the lack of belt and different design was not. The subsequent onslaught of set photos showing a less than flattering look did nothing to help ease fans fears, although the speculation that it was perhaps only the wrestling suit was a nice thought. Yesterday brought us our first official glimpse of the costume, which looked considerably better than in the above mention leaked pictures, and simultaneously eliminated the though that it's anything other than the suit we'll see throughout the film.

Then of course, there's the title. The Amazing Spider-Man has been a popular choice among fans since the reboot was announced, and I for one think that they couldnt have chosen a better name than the one used for the long running comic book series. However, what do you think about both that and the new suit? Is the new design a good way of distinguishing the franchise from the Raimi series, or have they made a big mistake by not sticking to the comic books?

Be sure to share your thoughts by voting and commenting below, and keep an eye out for the results in a few days time!

The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released on July 3, 2012!

The costume looks like DOG SH1T but I'd take this movie over FOX! : p

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN... pretty obvious rather they called it ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN or something lol, as I can't see this ever touching the masterpiece movies of SPIDEY 1 & 2!

Still, should be good with LIZARD we just need KRAVEN in it! : p

Sweet poll @ Josh :)

well obviously the set pics are not going to look great, there definitely going to digitally enhance the costume, so that certain black spot probably won't be in the movie.

The costume is so damn ugly. How can anyone like this?

NO FIST FOR YOU!!!!

I'm not sold on the suit until I see it in action... and I thought this was gonna be based on him being in high school the whole time... shouldn't his suit look a lil cheap in the beginning?

hmmm.. i prefer the old costume. it's more sipderman, but still wait to see the new suit in action.
i'm afraid with the title. other CBM has not so long title for the first movie. it sounds like a title of sequel. i mean look at G.I.JOE: Rise of Cobra. perhaps it because the studio doesn't want to make people it's the same movie with spiderman trilogy before.

I think they are both great. And the [female dog]ing over the costume just beffudles me. It looks fairly similar to Raimi's, just being diff enough to be a fresh take. And neither one do a disservice to the look in the comics. Whine whine whine.

The costume is 'tarded. The webbing onthe head is little squares, and the racing stripe additions to the costume are stupid, and the lack of belt is lame. The only right so far is the addition of the mechanical web shooters.

The title is decent, but they could call it The Amazingly Lame PooPoo-Head, and it could still be a great movie if done right. The title is not important compared to the lame costume.

The shoes kill it for me.... Im hoping they cgi them out or sumthin (They blacked them out in the official pic so mayB)... They look like a bad case of cos play imo. Other than that spiderman has a heaps of different suits so i doesn't bother me about this one.

I like the material that the suit is made of in the reboot more than in the original trilogy. I've read some comments of people saying the suit is not accurate to the comics but as Josh pointed out in another article the suit is damn near identical to the wrestling costume as seen in the comics. So the suit is accurate, just not the suit most fans would have wanted translated on screen i guess.

title is fine the way it is.

costume is NOT fine the way it is.

it remains to be seen if the movie will suck or not. final judgment on the movie when it shows, but regardless of that, some of us still HATE the costume.

for a reboot, it still has some of the old crowd like Avi Arad producing it.... remember them? you dissed them for making Spider-Man 3 the way it was and some of them are still attached to this new one even though you "like" this new one.

I'm not liking the suit as much as the one in the Raimi version. But I gotta say it doesn't look half bad in the dark/shadows.

As for the title, it's great. I just hope the movie holds up to the title.

The costume just barely passes the grade for me. I like the texture in the publicity stills, the darker look of it. But then all hell breaks loose when I see the spy pics: looks like some cheap ass spandex (probably a suit made just for stunts though) and what in god's name or those sandals he's wearing?! I dislike the lines on his legs, the symbol on his back and the angular lining separating the red from the blue.
The title, obvious choice but it works well. Still the performances and action could still make the costume pass, like in the first x-men, eventually I didn't care what the suits looked like anymore because I cared about the characters enough.

The title is perfect and the suit looks great.

From what I've seen a prefer the old suit but that's just personal taste and nothing against this version. The set pictures aren't going to do the new suit justice as there's a huge difference that can be made with simple lighting techniques, never mind any fx to go over it.

marvel72 - 2/15/2011, 1:53 PM
i weren't sure about the costume at first but the two film photo's we've seen so far are better than the set photo's.

but the title is amazing.

I don't HATE the new costume, but it DOES look like he chopped up a bunch of basketballs, dyed them, then sewed them together...

That, and i've NEVER liked the idea of a teenager with EXTREMEMLY limited resources making "web-shooters".....but that's just me...

They couldn't have done better on the title!

suit looks cooler than raimi's

why wouldnt "Amazing Spiderman" work, putting the word incredible in front of the hulk reboot worked great too! im just glad they picked "amazing" and not "ultimate" or "spectacular"
marvelguy
marvelguy - 2/15/2011, 2:04 PM
The title is fine. Remember they toyed with using Amazing, Spectular, Web of for the original sequels. The costume looks like a variation on the Alex Ross designs for the first movie.

We are all going to think there is better. Let's get beyond that and hope that the story, acting, directing, and CGI are the primary foci.
