Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially debuted their Second Screen App for The Amazing Spider-Man exclusively on the Sony Tablet S, Sony Xperia Tablet S and Apple iPad.

The Second Screen App, which syncs only with the Blu-ray Disc, offers an additional movie-watching experience, giving users behind-the-scenes access into the world of Spider-Man as the film plays. Additionally, the App will unlock new content each week with all content available by the November 9th release of The Amazing Spider-Man on Blu-ray.

By accessing the Second Screen App, users can engage with key elements from the film while watching it on Blu-ray. The App includes two interactive modes – Timeline and Production – both featuring extensive content from the set such as interviews with the cast and filmmakers, featurettes on the making of the film, behind-the-scenes photos, storyboards, concept art, pre-visualization sequences, stunt rehearsals, trivia, factoids and more.

- In Timeline Mode, the App syncs with the Blu-ray Disc, allowing scene-specific trivia, featurettes, storyboards, interviews, and other content to scroll across your tablet in time with the movie.

- In Production Mode, users can explore even more content that goes deeper into the making of the film by diving into the various areas of the production process including Filmmakers, Story, Design, Cast, Location and Stunts, among others. And when the App syncs with the Blu-ray Disc through a connected player, users can “sling” select content from the Sony Tablet or iPad to the television screen to watch it in full HD, for a greater viewing experience.

In addition, users can also update their Facebook and Twitter pages and share their viewing experience by posting trivia and facts directly from the App.

The Amazing Spider-Man Second Screen App is available for free from Google Play on the Sony Tablet or at the App Store on iPad.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy

@jessepostal

I own The Avengers blu ray for more than a month, and while the features aren't as good as the US The Avengers blu ray release, it's still [frick]ing amazing. The Avengers is my favorite CBM of all time with The Amazing Spider-Man as a close second, so it's all good for me. Awesome to know that there's an app for The Avengers as well, I'll probably watch it again tonight and see what it adds to the experience, thanks for the tip.

@The11thDoctor

That's a hell lot of features, hopefully all of them will come with the Brazilian version of the blu ray.

I had the same experience - at first I thought it was the minimal features were exclusive to the first store I tried so I went to another one, they had the Steelbook with a digital copy etc but the same crappy features. I expected more from Marvel but this I'll get my hands on while waiting for a US Avengers Blu-Ray.

As much as I criticize Spider-Meh I'll be getting my hands on this. Love behind the scenes stuff.

In the meantime can someone refresh my memory: did Connors turn into a were-lizard or does he shoot up every time? I honestly can't remember if he took the serum again in the movie.
