TASM 2: More From Jamie Foxx On 'Electro'

TASM 2: More From Jamie Foxx On 'Electro'

In a new interview with Digital Spy, the actor reveals that -- like most Spidey villains -- we will feel some empathy for Electro; or at least for Max Dillon before he becomes the dangerous supervillain and feels that Spider-Man "betrayed him"..

"I think with all the Spider-Man villains there's a certain empathy to them," Foxx tells the site. "The way we crafted Electro was..when he's Max, you definitely feel for him because he's been shut out, nobody cares for him..and, it's his birthday and even him Mom forgets his birthday -- so when he does turn into Electro, it's serious venom. He does want to hurt everybody, and he feels like Spider-Man betrayed him, so he wants to hurt him bad"

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits UK theaters on April 18, 2014 and US on May 2, 2014.

You haven't seen shit, buddy. TASM sucked, but you're already deciding not to be fair to TASM 2. It's morons like thee that bring fandom down into stupid flame wars. You represent the worst of us. Fact.

Grow up.

Kind of sucks but I only see two ways o this turning out, TASM2 will be really good OR Batman Forever of cheeseball bad. I want this to be good but everything I've heard and seen has me worried, the small amount of story we've been told, Electro's motivation, and how Paul Giamatti is and over the top Russian gangster, I'm just a little nervous.
I call for a group hug of comfort from Ror and McGee!

Yeah don't understand the predetermined hate for this one. As much as I hated TASM, this looks much better and I am hoping this one will soar now that the repetitive origin bs is done.

Damn @Levi why the hate?

No haters - only lovers allowed.
I just don't think that Jamie's blue, non-costumed rendition of Electro is different (twisty?) enough. Kinda blasé. Maybe if he had a little side-kick (Sparks?) whom he met when he arrived from another planet. It is a Marvel movie after all. We don't want to be to on the nose. Where's the joy in that?
So, until ELECTRO is an alien from the planet Zzzaxx, I'm just not sure it'll work.

@ patrat

Not really hate from Levi, he is just living in the past with Spiderman 2 with Doc Ock.

Don't they ALL have " two ways o this turning out?"
They could be good . . . or then again, they could be bad.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 9/11/2013, 7:14 AM
Yea at least I have hope for this. As I've said, Jamie's Electro will probably be the best Spider-Man villain since Molina's Doc Ock. If it wasn't for Jamie, I would have truly hated this film from the beginning. Jamie's one of my favorite actors.

I like the way you fry boy.

The only noteworthy actor in this whole movie. Shame he's gotta be wasted on such a generic villain.
