The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Near the end of the new trailer, you can make out the faint words “Mark of the Spider-Man”. If you go to the address markofthespider-man.com, you're taken to a website with The Amazing Spider-Man logo and six screens filled with static.

Thanks to Collider for the image. What do you think Mark of the Spider-Man means? If any of you can work out a way to go further into the site, let me know and I'll update the article as we proceed. But for now, share your thoughts in the usual place!

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Sally Field and Martin Sheen.

Maybe, but it also mentions a container. Somebody wrote in an Editorial that on the rooftop of Oscorp there's a container with green stuff in and that Lizard seems to be trying to populate New York with lizard people. Could it be to do with that?

It seems to me that "The Mark of the Spider-man" is some sort of painted graffiti.

Like in the trailer:

Could this some how relate to that?

Also what do you guys think of him painting graffiti spiders around instead of having a the spider signal?

Of course the graffiti could be just something he saw and based his own logo on his costume. But IDK. This is just random guessing on my part.

@Ddark, Neither TDK nor TDKR invented marketing.

Wow Sony. Way to rip off TDK/DC. If that doesn't show that Sony is blatantly copying the Nolan/Batman format then I don't know what else to say. I love Spider Man but IMO I think its gonna be a flop with the fans. It might overall do well at the box office but for the fans I have a nauseating feeling that it will fall short.

I know, right? What is Sony thinking trying to copy a viral marketing campaign as dull and unproductive as TDKR.

its funny that anytime a new cbm comes out its copying batman. or if any movie does viral marketing its copying batman. or if the hero symbolizes hope then its copying batman. or if a majority of the movie takes place at night its copying batman. or if it takes a serious approach its copying batman.

i mean seriously batman lovers (not all of you) but most of you need to get your heads out of your [frick]ing asses.
