C Thomas Howell Talks Spider-Man

Despite Howell's role in the reboot apparently being leaked as "Ray"(Ray Cooper?), the actor is still keeping schtoom. He does suggest that he will be an important factor in the story though..

In an interview with The Dallas-Forth Worth Tribune Howell spoke about the experience of pulling double duty, shooting not only Spider-Man, but his TV series Southland. Going back and forth between the two.

"Southland has been real accommodating. This week will be the end of shooting for the 10 episodes this season, and I'll go back to 'Spider-Man' after that."

Recently Howell's reps indicated that he would be playing a character named Ray, and jumped to Ray Cooper(the father of one of Parker's comic girlfriend Carlie)but Howell is still not giving anything away, only hinting that his character might be more important to the story than we thought..

"I had to sign, basically, a bible about not expressing anything, not talking about details. It's understandable they want to keep things secret. There's so much money in it."

"It's so hard keeping the iPhone out of my pocket on the set, when I want to take photos left and right. The other night, we were on the back lot of Universal, and they had it dressed up to be downtown New York, with steam coming up out of the ground and cabs crowding the street. You'd never have guessed you weren't in New York City. I felt like a kid in the ultimate playground."

Howell can say that his is "not a major role, but it is a poignant, important role."

The fact that he won't/can't reveal his role makes me wonder. If it was just the part of Ray Cooper then why the big mystery? Anyway, it could just mean that Webb has him playing a bigger part in the mythology than the comic's Cooper did. We shall see.

I wonder if he's playing Peter's dad? I read rumors about his parents being in the movie... Who knows? I'm sure that, whatever role he's playing, he'll do a great job.

C Thomas Howell is like an aging athlete....he's lost a step and a small role is all that he should be playing. Hard to admit, but I'm with Grif on this one.

It was the year 1930, Spider-Man was stalking the shadows as he usuly does. The rain was moist and the city had fallen asleep by the crime. Dark clouds ran above the city's limits.

Spidy was on the hunt, searching high and low, for the people behind the darkness.

Hm...anybody remember that supposed plot outline from December that pegged Osborn as appearing at the end of the film? It's a reach, but maybe, just maybe...

Here it is, if you haven't seen it:

Yeah he is great on Southland...it comes on cable AMC I think.

THis explains why he disapeared for a while. So called drank to death did some stupid shit. I thought they got rid of the character (couldnt figure why since he was so animated) then he got cleaned up and came back....

I hope they keep this show on. It would do better on like NBC who need a real beat cop show.

I really do hope it is Ray Cooper. If all this secrecy is surrounding the "poignant" role of Ray Cooper, then this musty mean that Carlie Cooper is in the film and may become Spidey's new love interest, once Gwen Stacy dies. If Carlie Cooper is in this movie, then I'm sold on it. If not, then [frick] it.

He did good on criminal minds as "reaper". Like to see him play Chameleon though. Is it confirmed Lizard is in it or is it just Dr Connors? Id like to see Philip Seymour Hoffman as Doc Ock, Oded Fehr or Josh Brolin as Kraven. In 3rd or 4th one have Scorpion. Josh Holloway would be good for the role.
