The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Just saw Spidey last night for a advanced screening. I kinda like the movie it was not terrible nor excellent by any means but enjoyable to watch. My wife on the other hand lead over to me and said what the heck is the Riddler/Mr Freeze doing in this movie which made me laugh out loud!

@ Charlie

That was the main problem in the movie was the pacing, some of the scenes were so long and not needed.

LOL!

I said the same thing..... the Jim Carey/Aldrich Killian villain comparison .......but when he turns into Electro......I liked him.

@ Brainiac

Yeah my wife quickly pointed it out said he started off as the nerdy Riddler and ended up as Mr. Freeze.........Then she asked afterwards how he can travel through electrical wires with his rubber undies..........

But like you I liked his character as well.

@Joe

My biggest disappointment was the fight with the Goblin was very short......and that the Goblin got knocked out.......I would've loved Spidey to beat the shit out of him after the death.......just like the comics but without Goblins death.

3/5 for me......Enjoyable but not Great.

I usually like these, but this one was kinda boring.

I also thought the Green was a disappointment at first but I was actually happy afterwards because it really did not distract from Electro.

Also Electro reminded me of this guy......

I have to say the scene with Peter and Gwen was very emotional and to me one of the best scenes out there in a CBM.

@ Brain

I meant the scene where it is just Peter holding Gwen.........

That scene ranks up with this one......

I just rewatched this a few days ago, and man, the Lizard was probably one of the most ridiculous, illogical, 2-dimensional villains in any comic book in recent memory. What's even worse is that he's not even the biggest problem of TASM. What a mess.

I'm seeing TASM 2 later tonight...with pretty low expectations. Should be interesting to see how this goes!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently rated lower than Spider-Man 3, which was the weakest of director's Sam Raimi trilogy!

I wanted to like this movie as I love Spiderman but there was just too much crammed into it! The storylines were all over the place. The action scenes were pretty cool, but in the end I was hoping that Sony would just call Marvel Studios/Disney and give them a price to buy back the movie rights. I am sorry but Avi Arad just doesn't get these characters. And yes the X-Men mid-credit scene is true. Does this mean that Fox and Sony are thinking about a cross over Marvel movie? God I hope not. I am more hopeful of X-Men DOFP it seems to be getting better with each trailer. I do not think that this will have repeat business amongst the kids/family audience only because it goes from light hearted to heavy and lots of complicated romance stuff. Like I said too much storylines that do not seem to flow well throughout the movie. At least they got the Spidey Suit right and again the action wasn't bad at all.
