Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Directed by David Ayer.

Two things I realized from this trailer.

1. Slipknot dies trying to escape.

2. The Joker is involved with the current storyline, not just flashbacks. You can see in the image where his face is burned that he's in the same building as the SKwad in what looks to be their final battle.

It's shit like this where I feel like DC could have straight up just started out with JL. Look at how many characters they are establishing in one movie, and it all looks like it works. It's all about the chemistry baby.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - It helps that these are mostly just skilled people with a few exceptions, tossing an alien, an amazon, a regular guy, a robot, a fishman, and a time-traveler together wouldn't just work in a serious movie without some serious set-up.

If you don't establish the rules, the game is meaningless.

@CapnSquintyEyes - I always just look at LoTR which set up 5 hobbits, a wizard, two men, an elf, a dwarf, and a shit ton of other characters. I think anything's possible, it just takes good writing.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 100% agree. I'm hopeful this director will be the one that will really sets the tone for the DCEU. I don't like Snyder's direction or vision and as much as I will surely see Justice League I have almost zero anticipation.

@CapnSquintyEyes - Really? Because the 20 seconds of Aquaman, 45 seconds of flash and 30 seconds of Cyborg really set them up? I don't think so.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Bad comparison, they exist in a world of other hobbits, elves, dwarves, and men. They don't need explaining because it's the norm. Not saying good writing couldn't get it done, but I am saying anything less and it's a cluster[frick].

@cbostont102 - You're right it didn't and that's exactly why they don't work. Take say minimum ten minutes each to try and explain each of their backstories and you've lost ~25% of the movie to set-up. Suicide Squad is already reaping the benefits of knowing there are super-powerful people out there from BvS. That's how a Cinematic Universe works.
