While attending this year's 88th annual Academy Awards to present an award with Suicide Squad co-star Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (the Joker) took some time to talk about his role as the Clown Prince of Crime in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Leto spoke about interacting with the rest of the cast as the Joker and working with director David Ayer.
"I did interact, but I did it through the eyes of the Joker, which is really fun," said the actor who is known for giving rats and dead pigs away as presents. "It was fun to play that game." Leto also spoke about taking on the iconic role and creating a Joker that can live up to previous incarnations. "It was interesting to take on this challenge. It was unlike anything I've ever done before." The actor quickly then spoke about working with a director as intense as David Ayer by saying, "He's great. He's an animal. I love him."
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
