SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Debunks Claims The "Ayer Cut" Is Coming To HBO Max

Warner Bros. has given Zack Snyder's Justice League the green light, and not only is the filmmaker now able to finish his original vision, he's added to it thanks to a series of expensive reshoots.

That's an opportunity Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer can only dream of right now. Over the weekend, he talked more about how his take on Task Force X was drastically altered by studio interference, but has now debunked reports that there are plans in place to #ReleaseTheAyerCut on HBO Max.

As you can see below, a fan asked whether that's in the works after sharing a link to a story that claims, "David Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad is coming to HBO Max. Word around here is it’ll be released near the end of 2021 and will feature a lot more of Jared’s Joker and Robbie’s Harley Quinn."

That sounds good on the surface, but Ayer was quick to respond with a simple, "Not true."

While Snyder continuously teased the "Snyder Cut" on Vero with various behind the scenes images, he didn't attack Warner Bros. the way Ayer has on social media about what the studio did to his vision. If Zack Snyder's Justice League is a huge hit, then David Ayer's Suicide Squad could follow. We'll see.

If they were to release the Ayer Cut, I wouldn't think we'll see it until 2022. They need to see how well the Snyder Cut performs and I don't think they would want to release it around Gunn's movie as it would take attention away from it. Plus, the demand for such a release is nowhere near the Snyder Cut movement at the moment.

We need a new trailer from Gunn so this guy will shut up for another month again.

Dodged a bullet there. I assume that if they move forward with the Ayer cut that it probably is as much of a complete cut as the Snyder cut turns out to be

I don't know what it says about DC/WB and the fans that the franchises' worst movies are the ones that are most passionately supported

End of Watch and Fury are two amazing films, any Director would be lucky to have such films on their resume.
Really want Ayer to move on from Suicide Squad, and go for that level of movie again

@SimplyAz - End of Watch was one of the tensest theater experiences I had in years. Solid movie!

Thank god. WB needs to move on from these bad movies. I can't believe they gave Snyder 70 million to do freaking reshoots.

All he said is it wasn’t true about the release date.

He never said anything about if it’s happening or not

Of course not, it'll be another two years before HBO needs another gimmick to boost subscriptions.

If creativity is helped by failure, looks like HBO Max is on the right path.😏

I love movies that were never made and hearing about early drafts of films so I would be interested in seeing this if it ever got re-edited.

Why do you guys hate the idea of an Ayer Cut so much?

Is it because there's a shiny new Joker and Suicide Squad movie in town and the only way to lift them up is to push past iterations down?

Or do you feel that the legitimate online demand for the Ayer Cut somehow diminishes the efforts made by the Snyder Cut movement?
