With all the attention surrounding the release of Batman v Superman, it might be easy to forget Suicide Squad's debut this August, complete with a brand new Joker, played by Jared Leto! This film mark's the Joker's introduction into the DC Extended Universe, and Leto's performance and appearance have been discussed at length, from the tattoos adorning his body to the "gifts" he presented his castmates on set.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Leto discussed how he felt the need to shake things up a bit. “You just knew you had to do something different. You had to make it your own," said Leto. "That happens all the time. Whether you’re a composer working on a piece of music that was written a century ago, or you’re an actor on stage, reinterpreting a play, it’s very common these days. Directors take on great works of cinema, actors reinterpret roles, that’s been going on for a great deal of time. From Scarface to Hamlet. In some ways it’s really interesting to reinterpret, redefine." Despite any concerns about this unique take, it's hard to disagree with Leto here...the Joker has had a number of strange and colourful physical apperances over the years, and this one seems to be no different in personality.

“It a weighty thing to do," Leto continued. "But it’s exciting. The Joker is one of those roles. He was written brilliantly when he was first shared with the world 75 years ago, or something crazy like that. And I think I’m just really grateful I had the opportunity.”

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself? Directed by David Ayer, starring Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (the Joker), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), with   Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Adam Beach (Slipknot) and Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Suicide Squad is set to open on August 5, 2016!

Really excited to see his take on the Joker, hopefully this Joker is the closest Joker we can get to the comics and the Arkham games. I also hope they don't kill him off, i really want to see the Joker take on this new epic batman.

P.S. Wonder how they are gonna address batman not killing Joker and the rest of the guys in SS.

@Sillypig123 - I doubt they'll kill the Joker...an actor with Leto's calibre NEEDS to be around for multiple films. They may do a classic "no body" scenario like they did in Escape From Arkham.

Everyone here saying Ya I couldnt have imagined that actor playing that character, Well Duh! Thats why you idiots are here not getting paid while the real professionals are in the studios getting made to make these decisions. Same thing with BvsS, look how people were here complaining about it, but guess what? the movie is close to making $1 billion dollars worldwide. Goes to show how little people on this site that normally make comments really know and understand. Mic Drop

@stameco - bahahahaha, no amount money BvS makes will change the fact that its a lackluster film. It could make the most money ever, still disapointing film. Have to sit through 2 hrs of bull for a 3 min anit climatic fight scene. Essinberg is the worst lex ever, anyone who says the think the movie is the greatest there the most delusional closed minded people like yourself, lol.

@RickGrimes - Maybe your the Delusional one, I dont think you understand that first of all money makes the world go around, if the movie is making bank thats all that matters, greed conquers all at the end of day. Second, DC Comics has plenty of movies coming up and sure knows how to keep it diversified, with characters like Cyborg having his own movie to John Stewart being in Green Lantern Corps and of course Wonder Woman having her own movie. All things that well frankly Marvel dont have, people can mention Falcon and Black Widow but come on, be serious, its not lile those characters have the rich history or the fan base worthy enough to create a solo movie for. And if Iron Man is marvels Ace well we saw what an old Iron Man acted like in Iron Man 3 compared to an Old Bruce Wayne/Batman in BvsS, and if you think the the older iron man was better in Iron Man 3, well sadly my friend, your completely Delusional

@Cles - let's oversimplified things and lied (or be dumb enough to don't understand) others and you get this. Where was the Jar a major plot point? It's Luthor letting the senator know she [frick]ed up. He talks like Batman keeps killing everyone, when he never kills anyone directly. A Superman who sacrifice himself to save humanity is not his Superman, well go watch the master of reversing time Superman and shut up.
