THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Chimes In On Rumors Green Arrow Will Appear In PEACEMAKER

There have been some rumors online that Green Arrow will make his return to television in HBO Max's Peacemaker, though star Steve Agee seems disappointed he won't get to suit up as the Emerald Archer!

Filmmaker James Gunn is currently in Vancover, Canada, getting ready to start shooting The Suicide Squad spinoff series, Peacemaker. The HBO Max miniseries has begun assembling its cast, but much of the show remains a mystery to us (including whether it's a prequel, sequel, or both).

Recently, there have been some rumors that Green Arrow could appear in the series, perhaps as a fellow "hero" who crosses paths either with Peacemaker or the recently cast Vigilante.

Unfortunately, Gunn - who is writing and directing much of The Suicide Squad spinoff - has now confirmed that the rumors about Green Arrow being part of his show are untrue. Steve Agee (the motion-capture performer for King Shark and the actor who plays Belle Reve Warden John Economos) would later express his disappointment that he's not getting the chance to play Oliver Queen.

Arrow ended its eight season run earlier this year, so it does feel a bit too soon to bring the hero back to television. When and where he'll show up again is something of a mystery right now, but it would be a wasted opportunity to leave Green Arrow on the DC Extended Universe's shelf for too long.
