Filmmaker James Gunn is keeping fans updated on The Suicide Squad via social media, and after recently revealing that he wrote the Bloodsport role specifically for Idris Elba, the writer and director has dropped another interesting detail about his DC Comics movie.

Sharing a photo on Twitter, Gunn revealed that he also wrote the Major General Mateo Suárez character for Narcos: Mexico star Joaquin Cosio.

"This is the only guy, other than Idris Elba, I wrote a role in The Suicide Squad for whom I had never met," Gunn said, revealing that he's friends with Narcos: Mexico's executive producer, Eric Newman (who it seems pointed the filmmaker in Cosio's direction). "This was the photo we texted Eric when we first met in person. Miss you, Joaquin Cosio!" he concluded.

Very little is known about the Major Genera's role in The Suicide Squad, though there's speculation online that he will serve as a "second-in-command" to Juan Diego Botto's Silvio Luna.

@TheWalkingCuban - Personally I'd rather see a Japanese actor play Sunburn in a sequel the X-Women reboot.

I don't wanna see a Newer Mutants movie until I'm at least reincarnated years old.

Quantum of Solace...that's what I recognize him from. Played a general in that movie, too.

@regularmovieguy - I’ll be honest I can’t remember the 2nd or 3rd one well, don’t know which one is 3rd, never watched the 4th, time for a watch through, I could use the sleep, and when we land on Mars and no time to die comes out, I’ll be ready. In all seriousness sounds like a fun binge if only to get sucked back into the world set up by CR

He was awesome as Don Neto. The scene with him and Rafa coked out of their minds dancing to Karma Chameleon was hilarious.

@blackandyellow - Rafa needs more work, make him Eleven’s brother Cuatro, ruin an episode or 2, long as he’s on screen more idc

OT:

Anyone watch "Devil All the Time" on Netflix?

Movie was okay, cast was good. Tom Holland's got a solid future as long as he picks interesting projects and roles like this one.

But it shouldn't have been a movie and there were some castings I was just straight up confused over given the extremely short screentime they had.

Should've been a miniseries, imo. I'd give it a 6/10.

@regularmovieguy - Yeah I saw it last night, and it was just okay for me as well.
The whole cast did a good job, the guy who played Arvins father (I forgot the actors name), he kinda surprised me in this.
Even Tom Holland was good, he gets to be pretty violent in some parts.

An HBO mini series would have better fitted this.

@JohnMarston220

Bill Skarsgard, Pennywise from IT. He was great.

And yeah..100%. Too many characters came and went and when everyone you meet sees a violent and brutal end it kind of desensitizes you and borders on parody at times.

But the actors were strong and carried the movie. Miniseries was the way to go 👍🏻

Im mexican and yes, he is a great actor with a lot of charm.
I recomend you to see "EL INFIERNO" (THE INFERNO), a dark comedy about the rise of narco in mid 2000s in the north of méxico.
He is an amazing voice actor too!
he plays Rattlesnake Jake in RANGO and I dare say he is better than Bill Nighy!

That big ol goblin head, wasn’t he on Ernest Scared Stupi, I’m pretty sure Warwick Davis voiced his body as Griphook
“I bet YOU have a big head!”
Yes. Can’t even lose weight it’s so big. But this isn’t about me!

Anybody catch his exchange with snyderbots on Twitter over having Feige over at the SS set? Hilarious how they let their conspiracy theories run rampant.
