THE SUICIDE SQUAD Is Officially Certified Fresh On Rotten Tomatoes With A Very Impressive 96%

Though that perfect 100% score did drop a little with the addition of a couple of negative reviews, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is now officially certified fresh at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

After receiving highly positive initial reactions and reviews since it hit theaters in The U.K., Ireland and several other locations on Friday, The Suicide Squad is now officially certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

James Gunn's R-rated DC Comics adventure was sitting pretty at 100% for a while, but after a couple of negative verdicts were added to the review aggregator, it's dropped slightly to 96%. That's still very impressive, of course, and Gunn has taken to Twitter to point out that this is the first time one of his movies has been certified fresh prior to its U.S. release.

In my review, I described The Suicide Squad as "a near pitch-perfect blend of tones and genres, which somehow coalesces to form not only the film of the year so far, but one of the most purely entertaining comic book movies you're ever likely to see." Josh also enjoyed it, but wasn't quite as impressed.

Have any of you had the chance to see The Suicide Squad yet? Do you plan on catching it in theaters or on HBO Max when it hits the U.S. on August 5? Let us know in the usual place, and check out an awesome new poster below.
