Batman v Superman: Dawn of Malcontent
I don’t know where to start. I rarely write articles, but the last few days of reading the comments sections regarding Batman v Superman have been exhausting. I am no fan-boy. I don’t choose sides. I watch all superhero movies and enjoy most of them. Increasingly has the discontent, complaining, and negatively rotten frame of mind taken form regarding something we all love. These movies.
Batman v Superman had its problems. For me, it was the editing. I followed it perfectly. But I can see how laymen to the genre would have difficulty keeping up. Other wise I thought the movie was great. Wonder Woman stole the show and Gal Gadot proved she was worthy. Batman was a beast and Affleck showed us he was a brutal and fitting Dark Knight. Henry Cavill returned to form as the Man of Steel and the rest of the cast did well. The score for this movie was what really brought it home for me, I thought it was phenomenal. Especially the “Is She With You” track.

Now, I’ll address some of the most prevalent issues I have seen people complaining about on this site and try to persuade you otherwise with facts and reasoning.
1) BATMAN KILLS PEOPLE, and has for a long time.
If you think Batman doesn’t kill bad guys in the comics, you have been living under a rock, or are not a comic fan. I believe this point of view comes from the generation that grew up on the Nolan Batman series, where he is adamant about not killing. Well, you are all mistaken. He has been laying the smack-down on bad guys since day one. I could not have laid it out better than the following Comics Alliance article: This Issue, Batman Kills: The Dark Knight’s Most Murderous Moments

2) Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.
I’ve had an issue with Momoa since they remade Conan. I just didn’t think it was a good remake of that classic. BUT, I think using him and his new Auquaman look to bring a character that has been ridiculed for years into the modern world and make him look bad ass was a #win! If there were a race of people that lived underwater, they would probably be tribal and look like him. This is my opinion. Or would you rather see this on screen?
3) CGI
I literally didn’t see a problem with the CGI. The movie was like a comic jumped out of the pages of the books, literally. Period.
4) The movie was too dark and gloomy.
We live in the real world. They are trying to ground these movies in reality as much as they can. And the world we live in is shitty. The one big complaint I have about the Marvel movies is that they are so happy. Especially when dealing with murderous villains. This movie nailed it with the tone regarding the subjects is was trying to bring to light. This was a superhero movie for adults that live in the real world. If you want happy movies where only a few thousand people are killed when an entire city is lifted off the planet and dropped, or movies where no one ever dies and there are plenty of laughs to be had, stick to Marvel. SvB was emotional and powerful at times. The opening sequence in during the battle of Metropolis was intense and heartbreaking.
You know what. I could go on and on. I know this wont change a thing. I literally saw someone complain about the fact the Bruce Wayne sent Dianne Prince and email, “who uses email nowadays!” was the complaint. Fans and non fans alike will find ways to bash a movie if they have already picked a side. The critics are bashing this movie. Well, this movie was made for the fans, not some critic who lives and breaths of being sensational and critical. This was a superhero movie, not The Revenant. See if for what it is. Fun, action, and some childhood feels.
And stop being so GD negative.
