Last year, we got our first look at the new updated suit to be used in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but did we overlook a small detail?
There was plenty here pointed out by fans alike of the small changes to be made. Slightly different boots, updated belt buckle, gauntlets, the designs on the obliques, and of course the symbol on his chest even recieved minor changes and detail. Perhaps even the color? I personally find all of these to be improvement over the last version, however slightly, as I did enjoy the last version, but it was until the image below was released that I saw something.
This being a shirt given to crews that worked on the film. Giving us a glimpse at the armor Batman will don, and Superman in action. It didn't hit me for a while, but people seemed to complain about the cape on Superman in the image, thinking it was just poorly drawn, or simply questioning it. Why is Supermans cape split? If you look above at the live action image, you see a gap in the cape, which I can only assume is an actual split (Or more, it is simply shorter in the middle allowing a split). Creatively, I can't really imagine why this was done, as I loved the long flowing magestic cape we got in Man of Steel. Perhaps to differentiate Batman from Superman even more, instead of insinuating they shop at the same cape store. It is an interesting, and very minor change that I noticed that I am sure is not important.
What are your thoughts on this creative decision to the costume?
