FAN PROMO: Geoff Ward, Unknown Actor wants a shot at Superman.

FAN PROMO: Geoff Ward, Unknown Actor wants a shot at Superman.

UPDATED: ComicBookMovie.com gets lots of wannabe actors sending us their pics in hopes to land a role in a CBM. Here is another case of someone who wants to get the word out. He has the look, but can he act?

Images have been floating around consisting of a relatively unknown actor, Geoff Ward supposedly screen-testing for Zack Synder's Superman reboot. Superman Homepage & CBM are among other sites who have received these images, that you can check out below. The anonymous source says:

"Director Zack Snyder, has nearly chosen his next Superman. Actor Geoff Ward was auditioned and called back three times. Yesterday he was given the physical screen test on a green screen with new suit and all. I have iphone pics."

Our intrepid CBM reporters uncovered that this info is NOT correct. These pics were sent around by Geoff himself. He hasn't been auditioned, but is hoping to get one with this sly little marketing tactic he came up with. Seriously Geoff, and anyone else who does this kind of thing, just send us your pics and write something up about why you want the role. We'll post it. No need to lie, cheat and steal. That is very un-superman-like. What happened to truth, justice and the American way?

Geoff Ward has acquired minor roles in film titles such as Dark Queen, My Sexiest Year, and most recently The Forgotten Jewel. And while it's strongly believed that these images are from Ward himself, expressing a bit of self-promotion, what do you think?

@Gaston
If it's a screen test for an audition or something it's likely that it isn't the real suit.

It might be just be part of a campaign. Like when Thomas Jane did the make test for Jonah Hex.

Don't know who the final pick for Superman will be, but I do know 100% it won't be Padalecki. Whatever small chance Henry Cavill had was killed by Superhero Hype and their decision to out him. I hope that low class move comes back to bite the Hype in the ass. Doubt it will be Hammer either.

This isn't from Superman XXX: A Porn Parody, but it's definitely fake.

All the people in the last pic are looking at the camera. Pretty sure they'd all be scared out of their minds of this photo leaking and costing them their careers.

well obviously its not going to be the real suit if this is a real screen test. well nice to see there trying out unknowns. this could be some sort of publicity stunt by the actor who knows

I'm all for him promoting himself and getting his name out there, but there are better ways of doing it than lying about being up for the role of Superman. When it's discovered that they're fake, people will just laugh at him or be pissed off that he tried to mislead them. :P

gibbyblaylock - Yes, the Superhero Hype moderators stated as a fact that Henry Cavill is gay.

They had been telling people that in emails for years, but finally just posted it to the public.

crashrendar, All those Superhero Hype mods seem shady as hell to me. Half of them write for other movie blogs and try to send the Hype's traffic to their personal blogs. Half the signatures in each comment contain links trying to steal the Hype's traffic. Looks like a conflict of interest to me.

You don't have writers for AICN working as moderators for Slashfilm. You especially don't have those moderators tell the members to put links to AICN in all their comments. That is trying to steal traffic, pure and simple. Meanwhile, traffic at the Hype has fallen off drastically from what it was a couple of years ago. Is it any wonder with these shady mods taking over?

@SuperGirl the same site that claimed cavill was going to play bizzaro in smallville. no offence or anything but superhero hype is a bit of a joke.

I honestly hope its a total unknown, some one that no ones ever heard of like this dude.

@SuperGirl: I like this site as well as SHH and I tried to follow their discussion in that thread and it boils down to one thing in my mind --- WB/Snyder would likely pick an 'unknown' actor that best represents the Superman franchise on and off screen. In other words, this actor won't generate any negative press/unwanted attention that will affect the public opinion/viewers when the movie is released... In the case of Cavill (or any actor for that matter), there had been rumors in the internet about that (true or not) prior to the SHH thread and that will likely get resurrected by the media once more if ever he plays Superman and WB/Snyder would likely avoid this as much as possible... whether Cavill is ghey or not, was never the main point.

As for this Ward dude, imho I don't see him as Superman. Sorry.

Anyways, I think you're an ardent Cavill-supporter trolling for support ;) Peace out!

@KlarkCent

There's always gonna be rumours like that no matter what. When SR came out, it was suggested that it was gonna be a homosexual allagory like Singer's X-men movies.
Khopesh
Khopesh - 1/9/2011, 6:05 PM
I read an article claiming that many people thought Superman Returns was camppy - even going as far as saying that Superman was coming out of the closet. This was blamed on the Directors homosexuality.

Not sure how credible the author of this article is though, so it might just be BS.

Link to the article I read:

Until Superhero Hype stated for a fact that Henry Cavill was gay, there were no rumors about it. If the Hype moderators want to act all innocent now, I'm going to call bullshit on them.

@Dynamo
Agreed but it can be made worst if there are already references in the web about an actor's background/association (truth or rumors). Imho, an 'unknown' actor probably is best route to take if I were WB... but what do I know, we're all 'ghey' anyway according to Ron White (YouTube link) ;P

@SuperGirl
A lot of that is swirling in some gay-oriented boards as well as general movie discussion boards (a lot of back and forth discussion whether its true or not). You can Google it if you want. Anyways, I don't care much whatever actors WB/Snyder picks (I put my faith in them since 300/WatchMen was faithful to the graphics novel), I hope the movie has a great story and in general earns the expected revenues because otherwise, he have to wait for 10 years before an up-and-coming director would take the Superman franchise...

@ Superguy1591

Why are you telling me? Tell it to the moderators at Superhero Hype. They are the ones telling everyone that they know for a FACT that Henry Cavill is gay. They spread that through email for years and now they are spreading it openly.
SuperGirl
SuperGirl - 1/9/2011, 6:48 PM
Half those mods have pure conflicts of interest. They own, write for, or promote other movie blogs and use the Hype to send traffic there. Why the hell haven't these shady mods been given the boot?

The quality of Superhero Hype has gone way, way down these last few years.

Hmmm I think it's great that Unknowns are throwing their names in the mix.

You guys should also check out Luke Banham. Here's an interview I did with him- http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fan_fic/news/?a=27495

Is he also a possible contender??
Superboyd
Superboyd - 1/9/2011, 7:41 PM
@SuperCalico- He submitted his Resume and Headshot and I thought that I would do an interview with him to see what he thought of the role of Superman and the direction it should take. Thought it would be a good way to promote a complete unknown for the role and also to see what fans would think of him as the role.

AEStark - 1/9/2011, 10:57 PM
Ugh. I'm trying to bear with these casting rumors, and it gets harder and harder everytime. I personally think that it takes more than the suit or the glasses to be superman. There's a bravado. Take Brandon Routh's performance, for example. Superman Returns was not the best in the franchise by any stretch, but Brandon Routh embodied the role. His performance was burdened by a director who wanted to pay homage to the past without creating any new experiences for the present audience. I think it would be awesome if Brandon was given another shot ( and JJ Abrams should direct).

Lmfao! That suit is pathetic! You can buy better suits at Toys R Us! If he wanted this to be believeable he should have done his homework. The one recurring grievance with Singers suit was a small "S", so this guy decides to make it smaller?!
