MAN OF STEEL Opening Weekend Estimated At $100M

Variety reports that early tracking for Man of Steel predicts a $100M domestic opening weekend. Lets extrapolate that a step further and guess at Man of Steel's potential worldwide box office earnings.

According to the Hollywood trade publication Variety, the Superman reboot from Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, David S. Goyer, Christopher Nolan and co. is currently tracking for an estimated $100M opening weekend. The trade has solicited box office expectations from various Warner Bros. executives who predict that Man of Steel will earn $300M over the course of its entire domestic run. These days, the rule of thumb for successful summer blockbusters is that international earnings will be 2x the domestic run. Doing a little math, that means Warner Bros. is hoping for a $900M box office haul for the $225 million Man of Steel. Add in the $160M the film has already earned in product placement from various advertisers and that's a total revenue of over a billion dollars. Of course, it's debated ad nauseam around these parts in the comments that things such as theater cuts, marketing, etc., etc. must be taken into account to determine a film's actual profit (for all you youngsters, that's different from revenue). Buena Vista's Iron Man 3 has earned $387 million domestically thus far, with a worldwide box office haul of $1.18 billion which matches up pretty well with the [worldwide gross = domestic + 2x(domestic)] formula mentioned above. If such a financial forecast were to turn out true for Man of Steel, imagine the announcements to be made at this year's San Diego Comic Con.

I strongly believe that this movie will be in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time. People love superman, the marketing is excellent, Snyder and Nolan has a large fanbase...this movie is destined to do wonders.

Only $100m opening weekend? That's troubling, that's really low for a movie like this.

This needs to get $150+

Global take will be just under a billion. Doesn't have the international relevancy that some franchises like IM and Batman have since they're coming off much more recent sequels, and more importantly the competition is stacked mid-June to early July.

I am not doubting this movie, but I really am crossing my fingers that this will be bloody brilliant,if this film cant do it then there is no hope for our man of steel or the justice league,so much effort has been put into this film that they wont do it again if it fails, not for a long time anyway,COME ON MAN OF STEEL!

MAN OF STEEL is going to make over $1 Billion.

Let me put it this way, the current weekend box office predictions are way too early to determine how much this movie will gross for next weekend, but mark my words, This movie is destined to pass Iron Man 3, and MAN OF STEEL will break records.

I am 100% certain about one thing..this movie will in no doubt break a record as being the highest grossing re-booted movie of all time ( I believe that record is currently held by last year's The Amazing Spiderman).

MAN OF STEEL will beat Iron Man 3 and will be breaking records one week from tomorrow. Mark my words on that!!
