MAN OF STEEL: Zack Snyder & The Cast Discuss Christopher Nolan's Involvement

Exactly how hands on was the Dark Knight trilogy director, while taking a producing role for Man Of Steel? What did he think of the final cut of the movie? Find out in Total Film's video interview with Snyder, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michale Shannon and Antje Traue after the jump

"He's hard to read as a person, as you know" says Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder when asked what Christopher Nolan thought after seeing the movie for the first time; although, Snyder does also say that he seemed very pleased with it. Nolan had said from the beginning that he didn't want to get too involved with the actual film-making process on Man Of Steel, and always maintained this was Zack Snyder's movie -- something reiterated by Amy Adams when she and the rest of the cast are quizzed about the Dark Knight Rises director's involvement. It seems he was true to his word anyway, as Henry Cavill never so much as spoke to him during filming!

As a bonus, Snyder and co. reveal what they'd like to see if/when a sequel comes about. Michael Shannon's response is hilarious:

I definitely see more David Goyer in the script and story than Nolan.

I like how Nolan's name has become such a legend that his sheer presence makes hotties nervous to shake his hand lol. I bet he doesn't see himself that way for sure, but it's cool he's like whispered about as this godfather type persona of DC films.

Michael Shannon, you are awesome.

I didn't see anything Nolan about it at all, except maybe some cinematography shots in the flashback scenes, but that's not so much Nolan. I agree with whoever said that the movie had Goyer all over it. Which to me wasn't good.

I liked the movie, but I wish the "other" Nolan was more involved with the script. Goyer has good ideas, but his execution is suboptimal. A better script would have turned a good movie into a great one. Hopefully they will learn for MOS 2.

so basically nolan was able to keep his name out of it if it failed ... im kind of glad that nolan was not there to get all up on cavill cause you know how he likes to re use his actors and i would hate to see cavill get to tied up to where he could not return for a sequel sooner then later. also wouldnt it of been nice to see a after credit scene of alfred watching the events taking place in metroplis on tv and turning to someone not in the picture and saying "looks like you need to make a trip".

and as far as everyone bashing on goyer who know how much of this was re writes from snyders guy from watchmen... goyer and nolan both allready said they were against the killing of zod so there is one big change right there ... although i loved the fact that supes killed zod and you could tell it truly hurt his soul to do it .... unlike the reeves version which killed de powered kryptonians and acted as if it was no big deal.

Opening scene of the sequel: Lois wakes up, hears the shower running in her bathroom. Walks in to find Superman in the shower, wearing the real Superman costume. Lois realizes the first movie was all a dream.

Nomis, MOS is the best movie of the year? Although it was good, it wasn't that good in my opinion. I saw it yesterday along with "now you see me" and I actually like the 2nd movie better. And I can tell you I am one of the biggest Superman fans you'll ever find. Unfortunately I don't consider myself a movie critic, based on the fact I actually liked the Green Lantern movie.

I can say I hated the Transformer movies, all the Star war movies with the exception of the first 2, and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. CBM movies that pissed me off are few, Superman 3, Batman and Robin,X-Men 3 and actually the dark Knight.

But I'll go on record as saying I enjoyed Daredevil and again Green Lantern so take my opinion's with a grain of salt

"Man of Steel was worst then Spiderman 3 & Batman an Robin in my opinion."

@DoubleD - Really...Batman & Robin huh...well the only thing you just proved is that your opinion and general point of view is ridiculous...

While I do not agree that MoS was the best CBM ever it is probably in my second tier right around Avengers because both are epic in scale but have some small problems that keep them from being in the top tier of CBMs. To me, Iron Man and Batman Begins are the best.

Michael Shannon said in another video that if he could face off against another DC superhero, it would be Aquaman LMAO. Love Shannon.

As for Nolans involvement, I see little to none in this. I think he was there to just establish the overall tone and basic storyline. Shit writing was all Goyer.

No reason to apologize for liking Daredevil, to me Daredevil was great minus Elektra. GL was bad but hey every time it comes on cable I will watch it.

@doubleD first of its worse not worst in that sentence if you're gonna make such an idiotic statement at least do it right. Second how is it you are able to type that statement and believe it? Need I mention the terrible story for batman and robin with bane Mr.freeze and poison ivy all crammed in there plus hey what the hell lets make batgirl Alfred's daughter. Now on to spiderman 3 sandman was a bitch venom had zero build up and died 15 minutes later oh and the new goblin how "cool" was that huh? But in all fairness there was that great dance scene where once wearing the black costume instead of being slightly more evil peter just became a giant tool and danced to really piss of M.J.
So before making such stupid comments rewatch those piles of shit and rethink your comments because hey if Man of Steel wasn't for you than that's your opinion but don't say such foolish things like that because you know that they are not true.

I like Snyder directing the MoS films. Keep Nolan to working on the sidelines keeping Goyer grounded with the storyline. This is a combo with continued potential for future success.

A major part of the sequel will be the backlash from all that destruction. Luthorcorp will be a major part of the reconstruction and Lex will be the 'voice of the common people' with Superman painted as the villain. I don't think that'll be the main threat, but it seems such an obvious follow on from this film that I can't see them not using it on some level.

Thank god Nolan wasn't too involved. The movie was bad enough already. We didn't need to throw more plotholes into the mix. Sometimes no plot is better than a bad plot, and Nolan would definitely have come up with some convoluted bullshit like he always does. Please stop feeding Nolan's megalomania. He's really not that great.
