Michael Shannon sat down with MTV's Josh Horowitz to discuss his upcoming role of General Zod in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Shannon says that he is not going to be impersonating Terrence Stamp (who played the General in Superman 2), which means good by British accent. He also said that playing a General is what really led him to the role. Shannon also talked little more talk about his motion capture suit, but for more on that check out DCMarvelFreshman's ARTICLE.

Man Of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne with Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, and will be released on June 14, 2013.

This is lame. Can't see the video because of MTV's restriction. Why did they decide to go back to that again, I have no idea.

I have a feeling we will see massive destruction! Superman looks like he will be throwing multiple punches! About damn time! I think this guy is going to make a decent Zod. Although I wish they would have chosen a different villain.

I follow the facebook link to the MTV site. The restriction won't let me see the video. I figure I'll wait ´till it reaches CBM.com so I can read the excerpts in the yellow boxes. But when it gets to CBM, they don't put them in.

In other words: I'm kinda pissed.

Can we get a different villain please? Ok, I get it, Lex Luthor has been done, I agree. But what is this, a Superman II remake now? The Superman rogues gallery is vague enough as it is. It would be way more exciting if they picked a different villain we haven't seen on screen yet.

At first, I wanted a new villian that we haven't seen before. But I thought about it and I think it makes sense to have Zod in the first film. I don't think this is a remake of SupermanII, even though Zod's in it. Just like TDK was not a remake of Batman89, even though the Joker is in it.

This also has to be a origin story for Superman, and it makes sense to have Zod because it ties to the origin with Krypton, much like Ras al Ghul is tied to the origin of Batman in the Nolan movies. It doesn't make sense to have someone like Darkseid in the first movie because if you are going to have Darkseid, you have to tell the whole New Genesis, Apokalips, new gods, High Father, Kalibak, Orion, Granny, Furies, etc... You can't have the first half or 2/3 of the movie telling the Superman story (who he is and how he came to be) then in the third act just have Darkseid shows up and attack earth. For the general audience, he would just be another random alien. Superman fights aliens from outer space???? what? huh?

As for Brainiac, he wouldn't work either, because essentially he's just a robot. The general audience might just think that ... hey! Superman is fighting a T-1000 terminator knock-off.

Therefore, I think Zod makes the most sense for the first movie.

The guy from MTV seemed completely intimidated by him. a lot of nervous laughter. I probably would be too.

@jenniferjuniper: the last line of 2nd paragraph "Superman fights aliens from outer space? what? huh?" Even if I were part of the general public, I wouldn't be dumbfounded like that. I mean Superman himself is an alien from outer space and so is Zod, dope :P. But I do agree you would have to develop Darkseid and all those other characters more before introducing them randomly.

@koibraces amen to that! I think most people on here agree with us. Zod does make since on that he ties in with a orgins story. I would just like to see something new on film.

LOL. I'm really starting to like this guy's interviews! He is one creepy mofo! But a funny mofo! lol

He definitely hit the gym for this role, thank God. He didn't bulk up a lot but just enough to look in shape.

But, just one problem... WHERE'S THE BEARD! I WANT GOATEE!! 8O

He's gonna be a great Zod.

Well duh it shouldn't be like Terrence Stamp's Zod. We wanted Brainiac and didn't get that. If Zod is necessary for this movie then making him different from the last one is what's needed.
