I know they won't do it but it would be amazing if they let Clark use the ring to travel to the future to help out the legion or something.

he better keep the damn glasses. he cant 'come out of the shadows' if everybody will know hes clark kent. biggest [frick]ing mistake smallville has ever made, not giving clark glasses. what part of 'thats what disguises him' dont those morons understand.

@Laffataffa...Dude, I love Smallville and am a devoted fan since the begining, but even I would have a problem with Deadpool not being able to voice his opinion on the show. There are some shit shows/movies out there and I would hate to be censored if I disliked them.

@Deadpool...dude, I understand your comments are not directed at a user, but just the same, do you have to constantly shit on the show dude? I mean come on man, we're all fans of a genre here, can't we get on and have discourse without putting something down that others like? It's just unnecesssary.

@Superman...why instagate Laffataffa? Obviously everyone here needs to cool down a bit. This is the kinda stuff that gives geeks a bad name! Also, as far as the glasses go, maybe the creators realized it was a piss-poor disguise to begin with and figured they wouldn't insult everyone's intelligence with the suggestion that it WOULD be effective?

ya right,i may of been over the top a bit & i calm it down for ya.

i'm very passionate for the superman franchise & i don't like how cw & the creative team have handled it.

i'm just trying to get my point across its the only way i can say what i think,i respect your opinion i just wished you would see it from both sides of the coin.

TheDurkinKnight - 10/2/2010, 3:45 PM
@Deadpool, you're right man I have to look at it from the other side...when the original Batman franchise emerged, I didn't like it, but I love the Nolvan version. Yet others prefer Burton's. We all have out own specific tastes. I was REALLY pissed off with the handling of Returns because I felt it was this unoriginal ass-kiss fest for Donner. It was such a waste of time and energy and I blame everyone at WB for what they did. I just seem Smallville as at least tryin to make an effort, and while it completely ignores 80% of the canon, it's a constant alternative to the ass-dragery of the WB movie industry. But I do respect that your so passionate about Superman. He's a great character and I don't think enough justice has ever been done with most of his incarnations.

and anyone else who got involved with that business.

youre right dude. prolly shoulda have commented that. but i really just found it laughable. this isnt a 'smallville fanclub' site. and it wasnt a 'comment if youre a smallville fan' article. deadpool or anyone for that matter should be able to voice their like or dislike for a show as much as they want.

i realize the beef was none of my business and i shoulda stayed out. all im saying is, as far as im concerned, deadpool should be able to say w/e the hell he wants, until this becomes a smallville appreciation site.

I personally haven't read a comic book in 20 years. Some of the things might not be exactly like the comics.I think a lot of people are missing the point of the show.(#1)It was never supposed to be a "Superman" show,it was always supposed to be Clark growing up before,before..he became Superman. So they could have just ended the show and never put the suit on him at all,or even showed any kind of suit. It's not Lois and Clark.
(#2)It's a whole "different take" on the story of Clark Kent/Superman,a "different take".If every Superman related show did the same thing, what would be the point?
I like to see different perspectives of shows & movies, because all superhero movies are the same.I think about 3/4 of the way into the second movie of a trilogy they should supposedly "kill" the hero & let the villian run rampant. So then in the 3rd movie close to halfway, the hero comes back, takes down the villian & then ends the trilogy saving the day.You know, where the hell is that scenerio at?They should have done that with Transformers 2 in my opinion.

@deadpool, your comments about many articles on here are brash and rude IMO. give some validation to why you don't like something and maybe people will side with you or try to counter your argument. i happen to dislike many things you say b/c you do not support anything you write.

@everyone else, why are you harping on me for defending the users of CBM and Smallville fans?

One of the best episodes in the series is from Season 9, called "Checkmate"

The director of the episode GOT IT. This show is about superheroes and gave the episode a very comic book hero feel. Go watch it.

Best scene in the episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsPyMDZ0HsI

Also, a nice compilation of scenes from the episode:

@ laffataffa

it sounds to me you're trying to get me fired up about this show,i've said i'd calm it down but here goes just for you.

the three articles i really bash on is smallville, x-men first class & the length time dc entertainment are taking getting their main charactors on the big screen i.e batman, superman & the green lantern isn't enough.

so here are some reason why i dislike the show.

1.costumes-i've heard of dragging a story out but ten years to see clark in the trademark costume,we still don't know how much screen time we're actually gonna see him in the proper superman outfit,it could be a double episode it could be the last fifteen minutes.

2.why hasn't he got a secret identity-when clark went to work at the daily planet he put on his glasses became clark kent the reporter, then when something happens & superman is needed he changed & became superman.its not gonna take a genius to work out clark is superman with no secret identity.supergirl has one,but not clark.

3.flying-lois lane & supergirl both surpporting charactors & they both end up flying before the main charactor clark does.

4.mistreatment of other dc charactors-darkseid & doomsday should be saved for a big screen outing not toned down versions.lana & chloe both shit charactors made worst by giving them powers i.e chloe becoming brainiac & dr.fate.

5.lame stories & terrible acting.

6.special effects-not to bad for the budget, but do we have to see nearly all of the fights in slow motion all of the time,is it so they appear to be longer action scenes.

7. the sets-nearly all the main action happens in one street.

what would you rather see clark kent jumping around for for the best part of ten years with powers or superman in costume from day one flying & fighting villains.

i think i stick with superman the movie & superman 2 & wait for the reboot.

-all good points @deadpool. theyre the same faults ive found with the show since day 1.

-this show has so many faults and I don't mind a bit of joking around here and there as long as it has its limits.

@deadpool: I say you make an editorial about it and we can all bash the hell out of the show. then we can get it out of our systems and move forward with our lives.

TheDurkinKnight
TheDurkinKnight - 10/3/2010, 10:31 AM
@Deadpool...those are all valid points, and as an avid fan, here is the best defense I can muster:

1. The show operated on the principle that it would be free of costumes and flying (I'll spare their lame tagline). The only thing I can think of to make sense of this is that the show obviously far outlasted Warner Bros expectations, especially since the last movie bombed. They had to adjust to the elongated timeline when they probably only expected to go for 5 or 6 seasons. Plus, at one time they were saying he COULDN'T wear the costume because WB thought that would interfere with the movie franchise. Now I guess with all the fans clamoring for it they caved in. While I DO like the jacket, it DOES need a bit more color, and uniform pants too, I mean a jacket itself really isn't cutting it.

2. The secret identity-dude, it's lame in every incarnation, the idea that glasses would prevent people from identifying the most widely talked about/photographed being on the planet is insane, so I think that's kind of a moot point for the writers.

3. Fliying-I actually didn't realize Lois flew?! Was that when she was posessed by Zod's old lady? At any rate, Clark has flown a few times. He flew in the finale of season 1 when he was in the twister saving Lana, he flew when he had that dream about Lana (also in season 1) and he flew when he was reprogrammed as a Kryptonian. I myself was pissed off he hasn't mastered it yet but now I see the symbolism behind it and am okay with it. That's the final step (when he gets the costume).

4. Characters-I can only agree with you 50% here...Warner Bros screwed that up on their own by NOT making movies and when they finally did make that kiss ass Superman Returns they had NO villian apart from Luthor. I'm glad to get to see these guys in a live-action format regardless of the budgetary contraints cause at least they're trying. I didn't like the guy who played Zod tho...terrible story arc!

I DO agree about Lana and Chloe though. I liked Lana in the begining, but she became a bitch and a tramp after. Chloe annoyed the hell out of me, and they shoulda bumped her off YEARS ago!

5. Stories: They do the best they can with the budget they have and I like them. Tom Welling does a good job but Clark is a little wishy washy. They lost their way after his folks died and he graduated. Still, I'll take him over Routhe any day.

6. Budget-again best they can do.

7. Okay, they definately need another set, you're right there.

All in all, Smallville is what I grew up with. It's to me what the Superman movies prolly were to you.

RaxusPrime - 10/3/2010, 11:02 AM
@deadpool believe me i think there is plenty wrong with the show and some of the things you have clearly stated. i agree that you should write and editorial and we can all bash it and praise it at the same time. you can't hate every show though to the fullest extent. if the show wasn't on tv what else would all of us be able to watch. personally i have missed the 1st two episodes but i don't plan on missing next weeks. the show has definitely come a long way for 10 years on air. you could have split the show up at the 5 year mark and called the show Metropolis but I like the name Smallville still.

thanks, for understanding my beef with the show.

i respect your opinions as well.

lois episode were she's flying is a up coming plot line in season 10,i think someone on here mentioned it was going to happen when she becomes Isis.

@ laffataffa

over in england, were a bit behind you guys.

were watching season 9,i agree with you its not all bad.

the best episodes i've seen are the justice society episodes that first showed us dr.fate,i actually think thats definetly the best costume i've seen on the show,oh i forgot to mention zatanna nice she should get her own show.

on writing editorial articles are they easy to put up & post.
TheDurkinKnight
TheDurkinKnight - 10/3/2010, 2:37 PM
Deadpool...it's supereasy to write an editorial. I've written many. Generally people are pretty supportive, othertimes, not so much. I've written lots of editorials, a lot of people on here have. My favorite article that I ever wrote was about the Captain America movie. I wrote it a year and a half ago and I thought I was going to be killed by some of the users on here for it. Check it out and tell me what you think:

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/franchisefix/news/?a=7057

But I DO have to ask you to please read my subsequent comments because I think I came across as more egotistical as opposed to patriotic, and I was called out on it, so in my responses to other comments, I tried to make my case a bit more clearly. At any rate, with you being an Englishman (right?) you can give me your feedback.
