All-Star Superman is an amazing read I thought. Now we get to see it come to life in animated form. According to THR, James Denton, Christina Hendricks and Anthony LaPaglia will add their voices to the project as Supes, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. Also in the cast are Ed Asner as Perry White and Frances Conroy as Ma Kent along with Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo and Matthew Gray Gubler. Bruce Timm will exec producing, and Sam Liu(Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) is directing.

For those of you that haven't heard of/read the comic..

All Star Superman is a twelve-issue comic book series featuring Superman that ran from November 2005 to October 2008. The series was written by Grant Morrison, drawn by Frank Quitely, digitally inked by Jamie Grant and published by DC Comics. DC claimed that this series would "strip down the Man of Steel to his timeless, essential elements". The series was the second to be launched in 2005 under DC's All Star imprint, the first being All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder. These series are attempts by DC to allow major comics creators a chance to tell stories showcasing these characters without being restricted by DC Universe continuity.

According to THR, the animated film..

...begins with the Man of Steel (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) an epiphany on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth for when he is gone.

I just last night watched Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and enjoyed the Hell out of it. DC/WB really are the standard bearers for animated movies. I can't wait for this. The film is due to be released in the spring.

Yeah they leave some stuff out, but the main plot and some nice dialog get through. Its enough for me. definitely want to see some diff characters soon though. Not a Flash fan really. We have had great WW and GL movies. Some lesser ones like Animal Man, The Question would be nice. And I would love some Vertigo stuff too.

@Tea- I see your point too but really most of those movies you listed weren't all Supes. I mean the JLA one was a teamup film and it featured everyone (including Flash) and the Superman/Batman movies are teamup films as well.

The only solo Superman films we've had really are- Superman/Doomsday and All-Star Superman.

This should be the animated film that concludes Superman though I think...I too love Flash and would love to see an animated feature for him in some way. Aquaman would also be great to see with Atlantis and him fighting Black Manta (a villain I've wanted to see adapted to an animated film)

Struggled to read this comic- I just couldn't get past the goofy and overly beefy Superman. Not saying it was bad, but a hard read. But in saying tha I'll definently get this.

grif@ It's Grant Morrison allowed to write Superman without having to worry about the continuity of the regular DCU. It doesn't get much better then this. You should pick it up

Tea - you forgot JL: New Frontier. I wouldn't complain about the number of Supes movies we're getting, just the lack of movies for lesser known heroes!

Yea I read the Graphic Novel. One of the first things I said was how great of a movie this would make. Can't wait to see supes go through all the trials and truly put himself to the test.

So this means we will get to see Superman reveal a new super power and arm wrestle classic heroes like Sampson and Atlas. That was a great run.

UGH. Fine, I just wish DC would open up their flood doors of characters. There are more characters in the DC universe than Batman and Superman. UGH!!

@SHAZAM171

This was announced months ago if other heroes sold as well then we might see other characters but as long as Batman and Superman sell allot then that's what they will make even now Batman Under the Red Hood has done well so they will make more Batman most likely because of it.

Superman All-stars was one of the best Superman comics I've ever read. So for that I'll overlook the fact that DC is indeed overusing Superman an Batman, but yea I hope they give chances to lesser known characters like Doom Patrol or other stuff, I'll love to see an animated version of "Formerly Known as the Justice League".
