Christopher Wietrick, who is a big Superman fan and a comic book artist, has decided to start a campaign so his town would get a new name: Smallville. He lives in Hutchinson, Kansas and by doing this, he also wants to help the community. It's interesting that the town already has a Superman costume in a museum, then there are roads named "Clark" and "Kent," and some other similarities which you can see in the video by clicking HERE.

Wietrick also launched a Facebook page, and this is what he had to say:

"We believe that the city of Hutchinson has enough in common with the fictitious town of "Smallville, KS" to warrant the changing of our lovely hometown's name. Our hometown has several tourist attractions already. We would love to see that increase by a great amount and we strongly believe that (should this happen) it would be a huge economic boost to the city, county and area. Our goal is for Warner Brothers and DC Comics to recognize Hutchinson as the REAL Smallville. We believe that no town in America has a better argument for the title."

So, what do you think of all this? Share your thoughts below.

No. Just, no. Hutch is NOT Smallville. Please, for the love of God, can KS outlaw stupid people. It would get rid of well over 2 million people in this state.

LEVITIKUZ Great comeback, but I would rather my state not be known for such stupid bullshit, so go ahead and shove that big brown dick that is currently in your mouth up your ass.

Hey... I lived in Hutch for 15 years and the town never really had a comic presence. I lived the town, from the cosmosphere to Carey park. This would be a big boost to the town. Plus I could say all of my five kids were born in Smallville.

That would be sort of cool. I'd make it stop #2 on my 'Small Town Geek Roadtrip.'

1. Roswell, NM
2. Smallville, KS
3. Riverside, IA (self proclaimed future birthplace of James T. Kirk)
4. Burkittsville, MD (for a little nature hiking, Blair Witch style)

Well there is a Metropolis, Illinois! so why not a Smallville, Kansas? It would be a great way to give publicity for our hero, especially since MOS is opening next year.

Next, some Superman fan in NY is going to have New York City renamed Metropolis.

And some Batman fan name Chicago, Gotham City.

It's a cool idea..why be just another ho-hum city when you can be recognized worldwide as the hometown of the greatest superhero ever created.

BEST. IDEA. EVER. Haha actually it's not the worst idea in the world. Imagine the revenue the city could rake in barring any legal battles. I love the ideas mentioned about about naming streets "Lois Lane" and "Lex Avenue". If you check out their facebook page there are actually a lot of similarities that makes this work. I'd love to see them go for it. Kansas needs a Smallville, this could be huge for them!
