Earlier this month, anonymous Twitter "scooper" @DanielRPK sent out a rumor that Miriam Shor has joined the cast of Superman: Legacy as the head of the CIA.
Then more recently, the Hollywood Reporter stated that Pom Klementieff and Miriam Shor had joined the cast in secret roles. However, director and DC Studios co-chair James Gunn quickly took to social media to make it absolutely clear that Klementieff had NOT joined the film.
Now, Gunn has similarly revealed that Shor is also not in the film [via Threads].
In short, neither actress is currently in the film, a surprising development given the usual surefire reporting from The Hollywood Reporter. Is this the case of bad sources or is something else afoot? For THR to miss the mark by such a large amount, DC fans are convinced that there's some deliberate misinformation going on.
Based on Gunn's past history and a few other half-truths, some fans are speculating that Shor and Klementieff have been cast (or are being eyed) for other DCU projects, just not Superman: Legacy.
As such THR has amended their earlier report to remove all mention of Pom Klementieff but it seems they're sticking beside their reporting on Shor joining the cast.
Will fans wake up to a congratulatory Instagram post from Gunn before the week's out, welcoming Shor to the cast?
Something similar happened with Nicholas Hoult, where the trades reported that he had signed on to play Lex Luthor but Gunn waited almost three weeks before welcoming Hoult. Gunn explained that initial reports on the X-Men: First Class actor joining Legacy were premature and that he wanted to wait until the deal was officially in place.
As a soft reboot of the DCEU, the DCU features an ambitious film slate that includes:
- Superman: Legacy
- The Authority
- The Brave and the Bold
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
- Swamp Thing
On the television side, highly-anticipated projects include:
- Creature Commandos
- Waller
- Lanterns
- Paradise Lost
- Booster Gold
- Peacemaker Season 2
Gunn previously confirmed that most of the television shows have writers and showrunners attached. On the film side, Andy Muschietti is set to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Ana Nogueira will pen the script for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and James Mangold will write and direct Swamp Thing.
The Authority is the lone film without a creative 'officially' announced, although Gunn has previously disclosed that the studio has had someone working on the script in secret, for quite some time.
Superman: Legacy, the James Gunn-directed (and written) film stars David Corenswet as Kal-El/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Additionally, Nicholas Hoult has been confirmed by Gunn to portray Lex Luthor in the film.
Currently set for release on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy is the first film in Gunn's reboot the DCEU. Filming is expected to begin this January.
