FX Gets TV Rights to Superman Returns

Cable network FX has bought the TV rights to Superman Returns – and it’s six months still before the highly anticipated film will even premiere!

Variety reports that the network will pay Warner Bros. Domestic Cable approximately 12% of the domestic gross of the film – whatever that winds up being – though a ceiling of $17 million to $25 million is in place. The length of term for the contract, and whether or not Warner brings another buyer in to share the window with FX, is still to be determined, though the network does get the first round of airings in early 2009.

If you hate going to the movies though, and 2009 sounds like a long way away, fear not: Superman Returns (and the upcoming Harrison Ford thriller Firewall, also just acquired by FX) will show up on HBO next year.
