Superman to Shoot in Chicago Rather Than Vancouver?

Superman to Shoot in Chicago Rather Than Vancouver?

Rumors are growing that Zack Snyder's Superman may be shifting its filming location from Vancouver to Chicago, at least according to Filmsdogsonline.com.

Notes the site, "Is Christopher Nolan’s Gotham the new Metropolis? It sounds that way according to my source close to the Chicago film scene, who’s hearing rumblings that Superman: Man of Steel could shoot there this summer. If this rumor turns out to be true it should be no surprise as Nolan, who’s a producer on Synder’s reboot, has had great experiences filming the first two installments of his Batman trilogy in the Windy City."

Word is that Nolan is looking to expand his Bat-territory with Dark Knight Rises by shooting in such locations as Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, and the UK, among other places. If true, Chicago would be wide open for the Man of Steel.

Vancouver would be good. it's more "non-descript" than the others, except perhaps Boston.

WAIT, WAIT! I thought that they said that Snyder has his crew ready in Vancouver. Since you guys don't really know how Hollywood works, let me tell you something. IF SNYDER OR MORE LIKELY warner brothers MADE A VERBAL COMMITMENT TO CANADA HE HAS TO KEEP IT. CREWS HAVE BEEN SET AND CAST HAS BEEN SIGNED. TO MOVE IT TO AMERICA COULD CAUSE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS FOR FUTURE AMERICAN MOVIES MADE IN CANADA. CHICAGO IS OVERUSED ANYWAYS... WHY NOT ST. LOUIS, CHARLOTTE, BOSTON, INDIANAPOLIS, DENVER, MOBILE, SAN ANTONIO, MILWAUKEE, DETROIT. THOSE CITIES NEED TO GET SOME USE. INTRODUCE THE WORLD TO THOSE CITIES INSTEAD OF NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES. you bytches are bastards!

Chicago skyline is more modern looking than NYC thanks to last 2-3 decades of relatively NIMBY free skyscraper developments and making film in NYC is hard without making the streets jammed.

But nowadays NYC is growing a lot more new buildings than the more cash strapped Chicago, who knows in 10 years if they want to make future Superman movies they choose NYC without question.

@ Bryanferyfan

Woooooow. Really? Chicago is over-used? I hope you meant under-used. Vancouver is even used more than Chicago! It's New York that is over-used. It's great that Chicago is finally getting the close-up it so deserves.

And also, I dont think a verbal commitment means shit. If they drew up a contrat saying that they were going to be filming in Vancouver then that's a whole other ball game. You can't really consider a "pinky swear" a binding contract.

@Bryanferryfan

HEE HEE HEE! BIG CAPS THEY USE IN HOLLYWOOD, THEN?

Thanks for the education, silly goose.

Snyder said they're filming in Vancouver... *and* other places.

but i did mention those other cities that seem to be overlooked.... St. Louis (my hometown) has plenty of historic neighborhoods that would rival chicago or new york... the weather sux just like chicago or new york but cost of living and the cost of doing business is probably the best bet for you movie making dollars.

I wouldn't worry too much about which city has the best skylines - that sort of stuff can all be done digitally anyway. Returns was filmed in Sydney, but trust me the wide shots of the city are nothing like the actual Sydney.

I really hate the fact that Nolan on't be filming Batman here in Chicago. We loved having the production here and the crew was absolutely great. I'm still friends with some of the PA's I met. And continuity wise, it will just seem odd not to see the landmarks from BB and TDK.

Metropolis is the city of the future. Only one city has that look and I live in it.

Dallas.

As much as I would like to see it shot in Chicago (hometown...go Hawks) I think Vancouver is a beautiful city, I would be happy with either choice
