This looks like a call from....SUPERMAN!

Not only has Superman fan Mike Meyer been inundated by gifts and letters of support from people responding to the fact that his Superman memorabilia collection was stolen, but he was also the recipient of a phone call from the Man of Steel himself.

Reports St. Louis Today (stltoday.com), "He picked up the phone last week to hear the voice of Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, a 31-year-old actor and former model originally from Norwalk, Iowa. The two talked about — what else — all things Superman for nearly half an hour. They touched on the making of the Superman Returns movie, the theft of Meyer's collection (which was subsequently returned when police made an arrest in the case), Meyer's memorabilia collection, scenes from the 2006 movie — which Meyer said he has seen 14 times in movie theaters and many more times on DVD — and past actors who have played the role.... The conversation closed with Meyer telling Routh that it was "an honor and a privilege" to have spoken with him."

That really shows a lot of character. Even if you didn't like Superman Returns you have to admit that he's a hero to someone.

Even if he did not make for the best Superman, you have to admit that's classy of Routh to call the guy and chat with him for a bit. Super!

Speaking of which, I recently rewatched Superman Returns on FX a few days ago. Routh definitely could've been much, much better, but I think he would've improved considerably if he had a script that's actually decent. Kevin Spacey was a horrible Lex, I lost count of how many times he was randomly starring into space. That, and the film was WAY too long, especially with Supes not punching anyone/thing. 2.5/5 for me.

What a class guy, now that exactly sounds like something Superman would actually do.

Stay classy Routh

It's always nice to see a star go outta his/her way to do something like this for a fan.

I hate Superman Returns, but have consistently stated that I felt Routh could have been a good Superman with better material. Aside from that, this is a classy thing he did. He definitely earns the legacy, in my opinion.

Routh really did take on the mantle of Superman :-)

Hopefully he'll get to play another CBM character.

I can picture him as the Rocketeer, Cyclops, Mr Fantastic etc etc

Routh was a God-awful Superman! BUT, this was a nice gesture by him to give him a call. He gains a little bit of respect from me.

I can't believe Myers watched SR 14 times in the theaters. DAMN. That just goes to show how bad people want a good Superman movie that they would just settle for anything. Can't wait til MOS! He'll probably watch it like 50 times!!

And that wax statue of "Superman" is just laughable. smh

Cavil > Routh!

Routh is a pretty cool guy. I saw the making of 'REturns, and he was always humble.
Although his portrayal was not my favorite, he has my respect

Routh was a good Superman. Bullet to the Eyeball is my favorite scene in any Cbm so far. The script could've been waaay better but Routh fit the role very well.

Now THATS Superman. Christopher Reeves did things beyond his role on the big screen and those things further cemented his place in history as a real hero and Brandon is just as good. Say wat ya will, Brandon IS Superman.
