Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set to hit theaters this August, and a rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that a new animated series set in the same universe as the movie is also in the works.
According to Cinelinx.com, the show is being developed for the Paramount+ streaming service, but the site doesn't have much more to go on at this time. Seth Rogen is reportedly on board as a producer, however.
It's assumed that the series will focus on the four Heroes in a Half-Shell, but the villain-centric spin-off films we heard about last year are still said to be on the way (again, details are few and far between).
The Mutant Mayhem trailers seem to have been well-received by fans, but we obviously won't know how successful this franchise relaunch will be until the Fearsome Foursome make their way to the big screen on August 2.
“After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”
Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon will voice the roles of Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael, respectively. The cast also includes Jackie Chan as Splinter, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Ice Cube as Superfly, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.
Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
